Its all good the Charity that trys to fund the Clean Walter filters
for Africa. I 'm not attacking them. But Why in the Blue Hell can they not do it on their own? Why Can't Bill Gates set up a School in each African Big City and get them to do their own clean water filters. Is Africa going to be like this Forever? Its Not Right Last edited by arista; 24-03-2012 at 02:14 PM. |

It's a big issue with aid and helping third world countries out, I don't think much of the money gets spent on what it should be spent on.

Yes its all wrong we need Schools funded by Bill Gates. And the Clever Africans , Newly Qualified, can set up there own Factory or Ask China to set one up for them China has built New roads in Africa to get to their metals they can take back to the ever growing China. The pay the Africans a low wage and work them to the bone, Last edited by arista; 24-03-2012 at 02:08 PM. |

Sure But thats Real Life. We are not in a Disney World. China is Digging Up Africa as they need the Most Metals taken back to China, there was a reporter out there meeting the China Dig and he noticed some Africans worked until the bones showed on their hands , arms etc. Blunt is Keeping Life Real. It's really not that simple. They have things called droughts, which means there is a serious water shortage. They don't have seasons in the same way that we do either, so there isn't a steady flow of water to refill lakes and reservoirs.
It's not really a case of just hooking up some plumbing. Water shortage means exactly that. Even the UK is on the cusp of having increasingly sever droughts. Last edited by Jesus.; 24-03-2012 at 02:51 PM. |

Africa is run by despots and religion, it's much like Europe in the dark ages, but without a flow of natural resources to use. |

(Rich )Gates builds New School thats Inspiration to get it started. Then they build their own factory even China - their new business mate can set that up. Stop giving Raw Cash build Schools. Africa also is Hi Tec in some parts but as you say they are in the Dark Ages in the most. Africa must change it can not go on like this Forever |

It's weird these "3rd world" countries are meant to be where civilization started out as well.

While we carrying on papering over the cracks and not actually getting to the root of the problem, then it's a lost cause
Nothings done because we just give them donations that don't even scratch the surface Cause there's not much oil involved, we couldn't give a toss it seems |

Colonialisation left a mess of Africa with it's unnatural, imposed borders. Corruption is rife together with a lack of will by western governments mean that some parts of Africa will take lifetimes for the poor to reach decent living standards, if ever. |

I agree with arista, I do think the aid we give as to this venture now needs to be used solely to eradicate this problem as best it can be. A lot of the diseases in Africa are caused by the filthy contaminated water they have to drink and really aid should be operated in a way where things are improved.
The people of such Nations could help with it all too and it is time that whatever aid we give is used to sort out the underlying causes of a lot of the problems and that we se that happening. Arista is 100% correct that in most cases the affected African Nations could do a massive amount more to sort this out. As for the UK having on a smaller scale some drought problems, well that can in a great part be laid at bad planning too at the door of the wasteful Water authorities in the UK, who make vast millions of profits but prepare for the Summer badly and allow water to seep away into the streets etc; via leaks while sitting tight on those millions they make. |

All the problems sorted out resulting in the need for much lesser aid or none at all would likely be somthing some of the African govts. would hate to see happen. Which is why I would prefer to see exactly where every penny of aid goes, what it has done/built etc;. |

Has it? Did the withdrawal of the British from Zambia and Zimbabwe, for instance, leave them in a better position? Or did they just leave them in a complete mess? |

I would think that it is part of the problem and a reason little seems to ever get done on this issue, yes.
