Alesha Dixon has confirmed the launch date for the next series of Britain's Got Talent.

As previously predicted, the latest edition of the ITV talent show will begin on the same day as its new BBC rival The Voice has been tipped to debut.

Speaking on Daybreak today (March 8), Dixon said that she was having an "incredible" time on the contest, which is also judged by Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

"It's incredible, it's good fun," she declared. "It's going to be on March 24, so it's coming soon."

Dixon also confirmed that the auditions stage is now complete, adding: "We have our final 45. It's very exciting, you will be happy. I'm very happy."

Britain's Got Talent has traditionally launched in mid-April, prompting accusations from BBC insiders that it has been deliberately brought forward to clash with The Voice.

"This is typical of ITV, parking their tanks on our lawn just as we launch a major new format," a source at the corporation said this week. "They are smarting because they didn't get the show, although they bid £10 million more than us."

Cowell admitted to Digital Spy at the beginning of Britain's Got Talent auditions in January that he recognised The Voice as a threat.

"The BBC must be confident because they have put it up against this show," he said. "They want to make a competition out of it. So we've got to make [Britain's Got Talent] better. Everyone benefits because of that."

Dixon's announcement of Britain's Got Talent's launch date comes hours after the BBC released a behind-the-scenes clip of The Voice.

ITV are pathetic though, claiming that BGT always starts 'at this time of year' when everyone knows it starts mid-April. I don't know who they're trying to fool by making out this is the BBC's problem but it's quite sad really.

I wasn't planning on watching BGT anyway but this is so immature of Simon doing this. I really hope The Voice beats BGT in the ratings.

Somehow I don't actually think Simon's responsible for this. I know he sees it as a bit of a competition, but let's not forget it was him that originally enticed the BBC and ITV bosses into resolving the X Factor/Strictly clashes a few years back, when he claimed that it 'wasn't fair on the fans of both shows'.

I'm going to be annoyed if they clash though. Seriously...have The Voice at 7pm and BGT at 8:15, problem solved.

Britain's Got Talent and The Voice UK have been scheduled to clash on their respective launch nights.

The BBC earlier today moved The Voice back to 7pm - having been originally pencilled in for 7.15pm - in an apparent attempt to avoid a significant overlap with its talent show rival.

However, ITV has now responded by shifting the Simon Cowell talent show from its original 7.45pm position 15 minutes earlier to 7.30pm.

As it stands, both programmes will go head-to-head for 50 minutes, but there is still time for late changes from each broadcaster.

Britain's Got Talent's premiere date, normally in April, has been pushed forward by two weeks this year.

A BBC source told The Guardian: "It is disappointing they chose to launch Britain's Got Talent on the same day as us. To not even meet us halfway on avoiding any sort of overlap is incredibly competitive."

Speaking to Digital Spy back in January, Cowell admitted that he recognised The Voice as a threat.
