Default School Bullying

All right, we discussed this in our sociology class today in sixth form, and I think it was actually quite interesting. Apologies, guys, if you're fed up with my polls and that, but another one's on the way. (It's a private one, though, so don't worry about people being able to see what you pick - they won't.) Anyway, it would be really good if you answered the below questions, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Bullying

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school?
2. If so, has it affected you in the long term?
3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time?
4. If so, was anything done about it?
5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied?
6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying?
7. Would you ever intervene to stop it?
8. Were you ever a bully?
9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying?

Thanks a lot, guys. Appreciate it.

I didn't get bullied every-day.

But I did get the occasional jeer etc.

I always fought back though, one guy shot me with pellets or whatever they were that gave you a slight jab so I got him back in P.E two days later with a baseball bat. (not my wisest decision)

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school? - nothing more than the odd comment which I'm sure everyone gets at school.

2. If so, has it affected you in the long term? - no but I'm very empathetic towards victims of bullying as I've seen what it can do to people.

3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time? - yeah I told my mum, she helped me come up with comebacks and nobody ever bothered me again.

4. If so, was anything done about it? - see above.

5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied? - definitely, lots people I know were.

6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying? - yeah when I saw younger kids picking on another one I stepped in when I was at school, and again not that long ago (I work in a school atm) I stopped bullying simply by walking into the corridor at the right time haha.

7. Would you ever intervene to stop it? - in a heartbeat.

8. Were you ever a bully? - no, but I don't expect many bullies recognise that they were bullies. But still, no.

9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying? - no, but then I'm not sure what they really can do to be honest with you, there are so many ways to bully people that are out of the school's control - just because it takes place on their grounds doesn't make it their responsibility.

Yeah I was bullied and I truly hated school because of it.

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school? Nope

5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied? Yeah.

6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying? Directly and Indirectly.

7. Would you ever intervene to stop it?
Done so before when this girl got "exposed"

8. Were you ever a bully? Nah. I got heavy & serious banter but I ensure it is directed at people who know me etc.

9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying? I'll get back to you after this week.

1. Were you bullied at school or are being bullied in school?

Right, well, I'm 18 now, and I have definitely been given some, but have never stood up for it.

2. If so, has it affected you in the longer term?

No. As I said, I always stood up for it and everybody knew not to mess with me after some time.

3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time?

No. I fight my own battles. If I ever did, though, which is likely, it was to my mates, telling them to help me beat up whoever it was.

4. If so, was anything done about it?

Yeah. Either me and my mates would batter the bully, I'd do it or I'd have a verbal argument.

5. Do you know anyone in your school who was bullied?

There's bullying going on in my sixth form right now. Even in my secondary school there was loads.

6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying?

Yeah.

7. Were you ever a bully?

No, not really, but I certainly wouldn't take any nonsense from anyone, and I'm still like that. However, what's changed is that now I won't be the one to throw the first
punch or word; if they do it to me, I'll fight or argue back.

8. Would you ever intervene to stop bullying?

Yeah, most definitely.

9. Do you think schools do enough to tackle bullying?

It all depends on the school but overall not at all, to be honest. In fact, more times than not, teachers and even the victims aren't aware. It's definitely more subtle these days.

No, I wasn't bullied at all,I knew lads who were bullies and they likely would have bullied me but I had a strong group of friends around me and we were avoided by the bullying element.

However, we came across a lad who was being bullied and I and a couple of my friends helped him deal with it, He was really affected by it and just kept giving in to them, we trapped them though and exposed what they were doing.
Awful cowardly people.

There was really no help from Teachers, it was an all boys school and a blind eye was turned to their bullying.

I hated school, people used to always bully me purely because my hair, looking back and even when it was happening it seemed ridiculous but mob mentality and peer pressure would mean everybody would just go along with whoever was saying it and yeah, it was awful

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school?
Nah.

2. If so, has it affected you in the long term?
Well, sort of, I'll get to it later

3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time?
Not relevant

4. If so, was anything done about it?
Not relevant

5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied?
Yes

6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying?
Yeah, many times

7. Would you ever intervene to stop it?
Yeah

8. Were you ever a bully?
Yeah, I was a bit of a **** in year 7/8. Used to always get into fights with this one kid and I'd go looking for him and chasing him at lunch and that. Then I realised I was being an absolute arsehole and grew up.

9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying?
Yeah, at the end of the day, people need to stand up for themselves, schools shouldn't mollycoddle them.

sorry i'll do the questions:

Bullying

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school? - Yes
2. If so, has it affected you in the long term? - Yes of course, confidence is a big issue and TiBB allows me to be myself without anybody physically tormenting me
3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time? - Everybody knew about it
4. If so, was anything done about it? - One time there was an incident on the playing field where about 15 people bundled me and I was hurt and I had to explain what happened and the teachers did something about it. When you 'snitch' or tell the teachers then you just feel silly because you don't want even MORE unneeded attention
5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied? - Yeah, few guys and girls for appearances and people who thought guys were gay etc.
6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying? - No, I've never needed to. I stuck up for few friends when people were talking behind their back
7. Would you ever intervene to stop it? - Yes of course I would, if a friend got in a fight I would be first to help. Especially if they were helpless and didn't deserve it
8. Were you ever a bully? - No
9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying? - It's too hard to combat it entirely, you'll always have kids who are too scared to even mention it because they'd get unwanted attention and make the situation worse

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school? Yes
2. If so, has it affected you in the long term? Yes definately, it has made me very conscious in how I act and it makes me scared if I do anything "wrong" socially. Although it rarely happens now (It gradually stopped from Year 9 England onwards) I still feel the effects of it. But because of it it had made me a stronger person and much more willing to do the things I want to do. But of course their is some things (such as fashion) that I feel restricted, although I don't care what people think of me now (as a person).
3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time? I was scared to some of the time but some of the time I was strong enough to do so and ask for help. When I was very young some days I would come home in tears.
4. If so, was anything done about it? Yes, the teachers dealt with the bullies and for pety things they stopped them. But it is hard to some of the time. In worst cases my parents would not have been happy if nothing was done about it.
5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied? Yes, one of my great friends was bullied far more than me. He has Asperger's and of course would struggle more in coping with the bullying.
6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying? A couple of times I have said to people that it is not fair and you should stop doing it, as I know how it feels. But sometimes as it has taught me to be stronger I would hope they would have the guts to report it.
7. Would you ever intervene to stop it? Yes, if possible, especially if it was my children.
8. Were you ever a bully? Never, I have experienced it full well to know how it feels to be bullied. So that would be hypocritical of me.
9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying? No, as people are too scared to report it sometimes and teachers do not dicipline the Bullies effectively. But in my case it was somewhat of a success.

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school?
Yeah i suppose.

2. If so, has it affected you in the long term?
Yes. I'm extremely conscious about my weight and how i look. I mean i've lost most of my weight and now i'm a healthy normal weight. But i'm extremely worried about it. It's made me think about how i act too.

3. Did you tell anyone about it at the time?
Not at first, but ended up telling a family member and then phoning the school about it.

4. If so, was anything done about it?
Yes, the school was contacted and it was quietened down. It's not been bad since..

5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied?
I don't know really.

8. Were you ever a bully?
Nope, it's horrible.

9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying?

Eventually

1. Were you bullied or are you currently being bullied at school?: No
5. Do you know anyone else who has been bullied? Not that I know of
6. Have you ever intervened to stop bullying? Haven't had the opportunity.
7. Would you ever intervene to stop it? It depends who was being bullied and who the bullies were.
8. Were you ever a bully? I don't think so
9. Do you think the schools do enough to tackle bullying? Not really, but I've noticed none in my school so I guess whatever they're doing is working.

I wasn't bullied as such. I got the odd "you're gay" comment but that really isn't bullying, well I don't see it as bullying since it's not an insult nor is it hurtful to me.

Actually, I'm left out a lot. I sit at lunch with a group of about 25 people and we're all "friends". But they all go out places and I'm very rarely asked out. This is because the "leader" is a ***** and doesn't like me but I don't see this is a bullying idk

I wasn't really bullied much as a kid, but that probably has more to do with the school I went to than anything, but my brother gets bullied a lot which might be even worse. The schools are terrible, because if it's not physical bullying than they don't really care.
