Lily Allen has complained about a tweet from an apparent member of the British Army, which has confirmed that it is investigating the matter.

The Twitter message was from a man named Harry Wilson, whose profile stated that he was an Army employee.

Commenting on rumours that Allen was adopting a child, he wrote:

All the best with your new family just seen you bought s**t I mean adopted a child from Africa.

Allen informed the Ministry of Defence about the tweet, in a message that has now been removed, writing: "Do you condone (these) racist comments? He needs disciplining."

Metro quotes an Army spokesman as stating: "Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination.

"We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is ongoing."

Allen has subsequently received criticism for her actions, some of which she has highlighted on her Twitter account.

"Just a few examples of the drivel I'm being subjected to for reporting that guy yesterday," she wrote today (July 11).

The tweets listed included one declaring: "Good morning @lilyrosecooper you piece of low life scum! ‪#HarryWilsonIsNotRacist‬ ‪#harrywilsonisahero."

It has been suggested by users that any allegation of racism hinges on whether a comma was intended before or after the word "s**t".

When one person criticised Allen for "for misreading the comment and jumping the gun", Allen replied: "No, his fault for mis-writing more like! IF that's the case, and if it is, then I'm sure his superiors will understand."

Yeah he probably meant what you put in the quote at the bottom. I also don't see what this has to do with his job. I'm so ****ing tired of society's desperation to publically destroy and tarnish careers and lives because of something as tenuous and openly interpretable as a tweet of 140 characters or less.

Yes he's a bit of a twat for badgering celebrities on Twitter. But what the flying **** does this have to do with the army? When Ron Atkinson was fired for calling a footballer the N-word was the whole field of commentators thrown into disrepute? No it wasn't.

Lily Allen is a stupid bitch she behaves like such a spoilt brat.
Its quite obvious to anyone how that tweet is intended! it might be out of order but does she really have to try her best to try and ruin his life by threatening to destroy his career,home and possibly his family?

A couple of years ago she posting on her blog that all filesharers and people that break copyright law should be rounded up and put in prison because she wasnt making as much money as she could if people didnt download music so someone pointed out to her that she became famous by downloading other peoples music and putting her own lyrics over the top of them and that music at the time was still available for free on her website. It was also pointed out that the article in which she wanted to imprison music fans for copyright offences used images that she didnt hold the copyright for.
Her defence was how was she supposed to know how it all works.
But everyone else should go to prison for it? stupid cow.

She had a proper brat tantrum and quit music said she would never make music again.
I wish she would vanish she seems to think she is above other people.
