Default First Group take over Virgin Trains (Franchise) West Coast Railway Manline

Live on all media.

First Group will takeover this Franchise
in Dec.

Virgin have had problems.

This company had pre tax profits of 280 million last year....Of course fares will go up.

It'll still be a bloody shambles. The Government are ploughing so much of our cash into the railways still they may as well re-nationalise it, at least that way companies who ***** up the service (like Virgin) won't be able to pay themselves large salaries with bonuses when they should be investing any cash they make back into the service. It needs a total rethink. The only way they're ever going to get people out of their cars and on to public transport is to make it efficient and affordable and right now it's neither.

Blaming previous governments isn't helpful. Insisting the current government does something to change the situation is surely the best way to go. People should make more of a fuss, write to their MP, insist that he or she take the issue up in parliament. Sadly though, not everyone even knows who their local MP is.
