But it's more like the scenes are set up for them.

Some of the situations are set up and stuff and when it shows them talking to the camera about what's currently happening that might be a bit scripted but their actions aren't I don't think

Not really scripted in the "reading from a predetermined script" sense, but people in such shows are paid, and hired, to perform dramatic storylines to a certain extent. They're actors, but they're improvisational I feel.

Almost makes them sound like geniuses
