We guess you could call our reaction to the pictures of Justin Bieber apparently smoking a joint extreme. If you call letting out a 'tsk' sound that our mother would be proud of and furiously shaking our head extreme. But the online reaction has been so EXTREME, we had to capitalise it.

Prompted by users of website 4chan, Beliebers were encouraged to take to Twitter and post pictures of themselves self-harming with the hashtag 'CutForBieber', to demonstrate how upset they were about the pictures.

The campaign was started by some terrible internet trolls on 4chan, a site that hosts a number of bulletin boards where members can post pretty much anything they like.

On a board that has now been removed, one user wrote: 'Lets start a cut yourself for Bieber campaign. Tweet a bunch of pics of people cutting themselves and claim we did it because Bieber was smoking weed.'

Whilst some Twitter users found the #CutForBieber hashtag amusing, it made others more than a little angry.

The most high profile tweeter to react to the sick campaign was Miley Cyrus, who retweeted: '#cutforbieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.'

Following the publication of the controversial images, Justin himself took to Twitter to write a series of emotional tweets, with the singer revealing that he was ‘growing’, ‘learning’ and didn’t want to ‘let any of you down’.

He said: ‘Everyday growing and learning. Trying to be better. U get knocked down, u get up.

‘I see all of u. I hear all of u. I never want to let any of you down. I love u.’

Justin continued: ‘Like i said...2013...new challenges. new doubters... I’m ready. We are ready. see u all tomorrow and everyday after that.’

I saw this yesterday. Just goes to show how incradibly mental his fans are.

Though I did think it was funny when someone (either 4chan or Anonymous (I can't remember who)) put out the rumour that Justin had shaved his head and loads of his dumbass fans started shaving their heads in support of him and posting photos on Twitter.

My daughter is a Justin Beiber fan ,infact I am taking her to see him in February,this news scared me as she is of the age(9) where she is easily influenced,so although we have a age block on the laptops,we will be watching her closely,I dont think she knows of this yet and if I have my way she wont,things like this are scarey when you have kids.

This is ridiculous, What he does and what he doesn't do in his spare time is being controlled by a bunch of teenage girls abusing themselves. They do things if hes seen with a girl they don't like, They do things if he gets a tattoo.. Crazy fans
