and it realises it has been plugged in but it isn't charging, help

Dodgy wire in the charger? Dodgy charger port on the laptop?

Remove the battery then put it back in then just to see if it helps.

I used to get this a while ago with my old laptop. the battery worked fine after though, I just kept it in charging .

Laptop batterys doe eventually die, mine does, so it's plugged in when I used it.
