Default Facebook implementing chat rooms???

Quote:
Facebook has confirmed that it is testing a feature codenamed "Host Chat." It will allow people to set up chat rooms that their friends can join with or without an invitation -- similar to the chat rooms, crafted by AOL in the 1990s. The goal is to allow Facebook users to chat with each other even if they have yet to "Friend" each other. While it does not appear that strangers can enter a chat room, 'Bob Everyman' could allow three unconnected friends to join the conversation. Facebook hopes that this will inspire its one billion users to spend more time on the site. If marketed correctly, Facebook could use its chat system to supplement or replace online dating sites. Many users already turn to Facebook to learn more about their potential mate. The site could now take this one step further by making it easier to make an introduction.

Couple of links..

Hmmm wonder if this will go ahead and don't they think people spend enough time on FB as it is?

Hopefully if they do implement them then they don't go the same way as the aol or yahoo etc chat rooms that ended up filled with bots selling Viagra..

This could go either way really; to me it seems like a feature too far and it could be more damaging than it could be positive but I'll wait and see what the reality is like... personally I don't have any real desire to speak to people I don't know...

I used to enjoy the yahoo chat rooms for my own area when they were still kinda new especially the voice chat and being able to play your music over the mic to the whole room but they really did become a cesspit for allsorts.

I'm not sure I like the idea with FB since all of your personal info is posted on there, I'm curious to know things like if someone adds you to a chat and there is strangers in there will they then see your name, profile pics, hometown etc without adding you...

Suppose we will find out soon if it gets added.

Seems like a strange area you grew up in. Bizarre.

Forums are pretty much for nerds these days the masses have moved on to social media rubbish and are happy to get bombarded by advertising.

P.S. anybody want to buy a louis vuitton handbag full of cheap fake viagra and ecigs from china.
(thats going to attract the bots lol)

They want what Yahoo Chat
used to have.

As the ads go alongside it

but can they staff each Chat section?
