David Beckham seems to be blanket advertising Sky Sports. Why? He was just a mediocre footballer.

He's WAS a good footballer but now he's a CELEBRITY who promotes the UK in sport (even though he got overlooked for the British Olympic team !)

David Beckham is regarded as very marketable which seems to trump talent in sport, which is why in tennis Sharapova gets paid DOUBLE than Serena in sponsorships

Marketable. Becks is considered likeable, humble, quietly charismatic, and handsome (appeals to Asian markets)
