Would you rather die before everybody else you loved so that you didn't have to experience the pain that they will all feel at losing you and each other; or would you rather outlive everyone you love and die after they all have?

First....I'd hate the thought of leaving them behind but would rather they carry on than having to watch them die.

I always felt as a young teen I would hate to see my loved ones die and would prefer not to be there when it happened.
However when My Mum's Mother, my Grandmother died, I was with her holding her hand and she was glad I was there with others as well, so I changed my mind,because it felt right to have been there despite the really sad facts of it all.

So last now for me.

I'd choose last because a great part of my fear of death is the feeling that I would hate to miss out on life... I like living and I like my life, but I just like knowing that everything is okay and that my friends and family are coping. I'd hate to die first and not know.

I know this might sound selfish but I would rather die first out of those options as I wouldn't want to through or the grieving and the Funerals, and I know that nobody would ever behave the same ever again.

First, I might be afraid to die but the thought of everyone I love dying before me and being left alone is worse.

The death that frightens me most is Mum. She's my best friend, the person I see most days and talk to several times a day. We live nearby and walk the dogs together (my brother also lives within walking distance with his family) and share a lot of tv shows and books etc.

That said, I hope i outlive her. Because losing her children is the worst thing Mum can imagine. She's a strong lady. She's coped with her share of grief and and is staring down the barrel of another barrage of it as her remaining siblings get ill. All of that she can and does cope with. But to have to bury me or my brother...no. Really, really rather she didn't have to go through that.

If I lost everyone, I'd probably choose to take an early exit myself. But I'd rather that than my loved ones having to grieve for me.

But seriously, I'd pick me to deal with the pain last, rather than put anyone I love through it.

I'm really scared of dying but what an awful thought, my husband dying before me, can't even bear to think about it. We've been together 37 years, married 36 of those years, I honestly think if he died before me I would die of a broken heart. I think I would want to go first to spare myself that pain but how selfish of me. This is a hard one.
