Default BB final get's more Viewers than CBB final

More people watched the big brother 2013 finale than the CBB finale.

Celebrity Big Brother summer 2013 concluded with disappointing ratings last night, with less than two million viewers tuning in for the final, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The first part of last night’s event – which aired live between 9.00pm and 10.00pm – averaged 2.05million viewers (9.7%) on Channel 5 and 129,000 (0.8%) on C5+1, totalling 2.18million.

Although the stats are good by Channel 5 standards, it was more than a million down on the final of January’s Celebrity series, which aired in one part.

However, it was slightly up on the end of last summer’s series, which drew 2.08million.

Later on, 1.6million (13.7%) witnessed Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby being crowned the winner during the pre-recorded second show, transmitted between 11.00pm and 11.30pm on Channel 5. A further 58,000 (0.9%) watched on +1, giving it a total of 1.66million.

This was actually a marginally lower figure than that achieved by the final episode of Big Brother 2013 in August, with the announcement of Sam Evans as the fourteenth civilian winner attracting 1.67million viewers.

Now hopefully C5 will see that Summer CBB does not to well and Axe it and make it One CBB a year

BB airs over the school holidays ... by the time CBB was on, all the kids were back to school and their parents back at the old grind again

So only the 11.00 show got less viewers really, not surprising considering the time slot and that will still have had a better audience share than the BB14 final

There has been little difference in normal BB and CBB viewing figures this summer though, might make them rethink doing 2 CBBs a year

That's a lot of viewers not bothered about the final two, me included. Tedious in the extreme.

I think CBB enjoys higher media coverage due to obvious fact the celeb hms are media figures, this has led to C5 putting low level media figures in regular bb like louise, dexter, gina and hazel.

Usually up more recently CBB had been the better performer ratings wise but I think c5 overegged the pudding by having an additional CBB.

I preferred bb14 to either cbb. I don't think cbbs have been as good as the early series with mark owen, germane greer, jackie stallone, pete burns, george Galloway MP, jade goody, shilpa shetty etc, all classic. The C5 CBB feel really limp.

I also feel the bb hms are more motivated to win as there is a cash incentive that can alter someone's life. Cbb have have the fee regardless of eviction, so effectively the first evictee earns the highest rate for shortest stay. Having said that the cbb want to avoid ignominy of being out first. Whereas bb hm want to win. Only a few cbb are bothered about winning e.g. Charlotte as it can raise profile with cbb winner tag e.g. paddy got a program out of it.

That's great news! Civilian BB > Normal BB any day.

Hopefully it's incentive to either improve CBB or ditch it in favour of normal BB.

They will never ditch cbb -sadly more likely to ditch bb which was the rumour in 2011. Cbb went from being a nice to have addition to being the bigger show. Bb gets little coverage outside of Desmond empire so cbb is significant.

Also think reason why bb final had large ish rAtings was actually due to Sam getting teen girls to watch.

I think Celebrity Big Brother should be for well known celebrities otherwise it should be dropped. Its not even a fraction as interesting as the real Big Brother

Hopefully they will rethink about doing two CBB's a year, with Ben Frow in charge I'm sure it could go back to how it was.

Well, he's said that he doesn't want to become too reliant on BB, which suggests that he would be aware of overkill, but then in the same breath he says that anything over 1.7 million or something is a success for C5...
