For decades fans have debated whether Marilyn Monroe went under the knife to jump-start her film career. Now, never-before-seen documents reveal the beauty icon did get medical help in her transition from Norma Jean Baker to Marilyn Monroe.
These medical records were put up for sale. A quote from Marilyn Quote:

she does look better after it and it did make her career. It was a pretty decent job, not too much

I don't get why people are so obsessed with her though, she was a dodgy woman and wasn't a good role model for anyone. I just saw someone sharing this on facebook yesterday and I couldn't help myself but comment about the plastic surgery, someone else had already commented about the drugs. I think she is too overrated.

I thought it was common knowledge Diana Dors was better looking and a better actress too?

Just like that image Jess posted shows, when she really wasn't all that natural at all I don't think she actually needed to have any work done and think the plastic surgery would have been kept under wraps back then because of the reason I posted above and also because it was all still relatively new back then. I do also think it was wrong and in bad taste to sell her medical records. |

I thought it was common knowledge she had had work done? I don't think it made her very happy, I think it's why she had such a tragic life really, she might have been the greatest sex symbol of her time but I don't think she really felt like a sex symbol, she seemed very insecure and got caught up in a lot of stupid stuff. Find it more interesting to discuss whether or not she died of an overdose or if she was murdered by a Kennedy or Kennedy associate.

Don't really see the problem, if someone is (or she was) insecure about the way they look, change it

I think it's a combination of her being the first international sex symbol of the media age - yes you had beautiful and more talented actresses before her, but she was packaged as this bottle blonde sexy woman who socialised with the most powerful men in America; and the fact she died relatively young and seemed quite wise for someone who was pigeon holed into this sex symbol status. Her quotes have endured over the years which helps.

She wasn't insecure about the way she looked; she was told she had to change her appearance in order to achieve success - which then became true because changing her appearance turned her into a star; but whether or not she could have managed that without surgery isn't clear and obviously we'll never know. I think she became insecure because her self worth and her value as an actress was based solely on her appearance, which wasn't even natural and she didn't feel that she matched up to the persona that the media had given her. That's my understanding of her life anyway.

..I found the movie My Week With Marilyn quite interesting because I think maybe she was quite a manipulative person in some ways...but still quite childlike, quite complex, I think...

Some Like it Hot is such a great Sunday afternoon film....it's my favourite of hers. I have seen some documentaries and she seemed a nightmare to work with
