Con drama American Hustle and space movie Gravity lead this year's Oscar nominations with 10 nods each.

American Hustle was shortlisted in all four acting categories for its stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

It is also up for best picture alongside Gravity, which earned a best director nod for Alfonso Cuaron and a best actress nod for Sandra Bullock.

British film Philomena is up for four awards, including best picture.

Captain Phillips, 12 Years a Slave, Nebraska, The Wolf of Wall Street, Dallas Buyers Club and Her are also among the nine films nominated for the coveted top award.

12 Years a Slave landed nine nominations in total, including a best director nod for British director Steve McQueen.

"I'm just very excited," he told the BBC. "My goodness, nine nominations - a lot of them British. We worked very hard and we're privileged to be in this position."

The film's stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender and Lupita Nyong'o were also nominated in the best actor, supporting actor and supporting actress categories.

The winners will be announced at the Oscars ceremony on Sunday 2 March at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.

Best Actor and Best Supporting Actors are to tough to call who wins. Gut feeling Leonardo DiCaprio will win best Actor.

Best Actress for Cate Blanchet and Best Supporting for Laurence are a for gone conclusion.

I think Leto might win Best Supporting Actor and 12 Slaves will win best film.

I'm really interested to see who wins in the Animated Category. Frozen's become the most successful Disney film both critically and financially since Lion King but Studio Ghibli have been known to steal away the Oscars from the favourites before. It's also Hayao Miyazaki's last film so I could see it taking the prize.

12 Years or American Hustle will take Best Picture if not them it'll be Dallas Buyer's Club. Best Director will most likely go to McQueen but Cuaron and Scorsesse will also be smart guesses. Chiwetel Ejiofor or Matthew McConaughey will win the Best Actor, Leo doesn't really have a chance, Wolf of Wall Street will most likely be snubbed outside of a possible Best Director win.

As for Best Actress they might as well give Cate Blanchett the oscar now because I can't see anyone else beating her for it. Best Supporting Actor is a pretty open Category, I'll go for Jared Leto or Micheal Fassbender. Lupita Nyong'o will most likely take the Best Supporting Actress award but Jennifer Lawrence could easily take it as the Academy loves her.

No Monsters University, but The Croods gets a nom?

The Wolf Of Wall Street deserves everything it's nominated for as far as I'm concerned but I'm guessing:

Best picture: 12 Years a Slave

Best director: Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity

Best actor: Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Buyers Club

Best actress: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine

Best supporting actor: Bradley Cooper, American Hustle

Best supporting actress: Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle

Best animated feature: Frozen

It wouldn't have stood a chance if it was nominated in all honesty. It's a two horse race between Frozen and The Wind Rises.

It is strange for a Pixar film to not be nominated though, I'm pretty sure even Cars 2 got a nod...
