I have an older half brother. We've never been especially close because he's 12 years older than me but he lived at home until I was like 10 I think and we've never had any arguments or anything, we're quite similar in a lot of ways but we haven't really spoken much since he fell out with my mum.

My relationship with my two brothers is completely different. We share two things in common having the same mum and supporting the same football team. Other than that we have nothing in common. Tbh I get on with my sisters a lot more than with my brothers.

I think it was difficult for my parents because my brother was from my mum's first marriage and no matter how good my dad was to him, he'd still make comments about how my mum provided things for us that she never provided for him; when my mum's financial situations weren't comparable and what was she supposed to do? I don't think she felt like she could win with him because no matter how much she tried to make it up to him, he'd always be comparing his past to our present... Which is especially ridiculous because he managed to land on his feet and ended up in a great job despite everything; he has more money at his disposal than my mum's ever had in her life. When it was just her and my brother she couldn't even afford beds for them; my brother slept on the sofa and my mum slept on the floor, but she saved and saved and gave him the best she could... really upsets me that he refuses to speak to her now

Your brother sounds so much like my oldest brother. Something happened when he was a child(Will pm the details to you because it's a private thing ).

I have a 19 year old half brother. I am not very close with him at all, we have different mothers so I have never lived with him or anything like that.

Not really in the traditional sense.

My sister had a friend who pretty much lived at our house at weekends because her home life was difficult. When she turned 16, it all came to a head and my parents intervened and took her in. She's part of the family, She's very much a sister to us and a daughter to our parents.

That's really kind of your parents Dean to take her in and make her part of the family, not many people would do the same!
