…it is very sad, both deaths involving fallen trees…we’ve had downpours of hail and now we have heavy rains …and Aston Jocelyn is on its way with snow forecast, isn’t it…?…

TRAINS across Scotland will see a “controlled shutdown of services” ahead of Storm Jocelyn hitting the country.
The second named storm this week, Jocelyn will follow in the wake of Storm Isha and hit Scotland on Tuesday evening. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of the country from 4pm on Tuesday until 1pm on Wednesday, with a second in place for rain in the west of Scotland from 7am until 6pm on Tuesday. A more severe amber alert – which comes with warnings of power cuts, damage to buildings, travel disruption and even “injuries and danger to life” – has been issued for much of the coast, as well as most of the Scottish islands. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/trains-acr...162852865.html Last edited by Ammi; 22-01-2024 at 04:11 PM. |

A number of trees at the Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland, made famous by the TV series Game Of Thrones, have been damaged and felled by Storm Isha…

Is UK weather always this crazy? Sometimes I see stories and think it really sounds like here, Hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding, wind and the like...

We get the Gulf Streams fighting each other "over us." Not as Extreme as USA but a shock when so many homes are built on land that the Governments "knew" could flood. |

…the US will always Trump us with storm weather, ours is very mild in comparison of some of your states…but we’re much less moderate in the last decade or so…actually more than that, 1987 was the ‘Great Storm’….

All I know is the weather has gone to pot since LT took to hibernating during the winter months, when he returns in the spring he will bring order to the weather thread

Met Office issues weather warning as 'significant snowfall' to sweep UK…
Parts of the UK will be hit with snow in the coming days and the whole country will experience "significant snowfall" from the weekend, forecasters say. The Met Office has issued two yellow warnings for snow covering Wales, the Midlands, Yorkshire, the North East, North West and the east of England, for Thursday and Friday. A separate warning for ice is in place for Tuesday in Scotland, where temperatures could drop as low as -10C in rural areas on Wednesday evening. A yellow weather warning means there is a small chance of power cuts, travel delays and rural communities being cut off by the snow. However, this week's snow is expected to be only the beginning of the deluge, with more sweeping across the entire country from the weekend onwards. In its long range forecast for Friday 9 February to Sunday 18 February, the Met Office said: "Cold air already established across the northern UK is likely to extend to all parts through next weekend. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/uk-snow-wa...122100756.html |

Yesterday where I live uo North we had some of the worst winds I've seen for a long time.
But they weren't really reported because they weren't part of an official storm. A silver lining, at least I got my washing dried in two hours. |
