The reason people do this, is because people thought you were open to an attack from the devil/his minions after a sneeze, so people had to react quickly to get some holiness into you straight away.

Yeah I always said it to Matthew and he now says it to everyone...whether he knows them or not. He also comes in from outside to tell me he's sneezed and how many times so I can say it. If I forget sometimes he gets annoyed with me
