Default Social media

I don't have a lot to do with social media stuff but it seems to be interfering with the way BB is supposed to be,it's no fun anymore to vote for housemates as you just know once campaigns start,it's kinda pointless,it kinda takes the true competition away from it all and takes over everything,it used to be fun it doesn't seem that way anymore, does anyone know what I mean,or even agree?

The social media that's been around since 2006 you mean? lol The campaigns are far smaller now but then so are the voters.

I don't know how to answer really....I think it was worse back in BB12 when it had facebook voting, that's how Aaron won.

People called it the "Helen Curse". It's not so much the "Helen Curse" as it is obsessed Ashleigh fans campaigning. Like when Jale left.

I suppose now that the viewing figures are so small, the voting pool is even smaller, so the social media users can influence a vote much more easily nowadays, campaigns are more successful because it's not such a large vote anymore. Especially when there are several housemates up at a time.

Kazanne. there has always been campaigns to get housemates. Before social media it was just the media, it goes way back to BB1 when they campaigned to get Mel out, BB2 to get Paul out over Helen and BB3 to get Adele out over Jade (and Jade was the MASSIVE fave to go). This is nothing new to BB, it has always been like this.

I was like Vincent Coccotti tonight from True Romance.

I haven't voted, vote vote, since BB9, vote, vote.

The campaign inspired me to vote and be a part of BB history

What was wrong with Jale?? I think she was evicted purely as a scapegoat for Ashleigh to stay, can't find why someone would dislike her.

Because she was a boring and spineless waste of space.

It's a lot easier to campaign nowadays too with twitter etc. All much more instantaneous.

I don't remember that campaign to get Paul out over Helen, but it was a long time ago,the only time I remember a big FB campaign was when Aaron won and it's gone on from that I think.

This is true to a certain extent but the show has also changed greatly from what it started out as, ie, a gameshow crossed with a social experiment (no, don't laugh...before people knew it could launch a 'career' or how to play to the cameras, it was almost scientific! Hey, I said 'almost'...).

Also, social media was close to non-existent in the way we think of it now back in the late nineties, so I guess it was bound to evolve (or perhaps the opposite) alongside things like Twitter and discussion pages like this.

The biggest manipulation is from the production team. It's not even subtle these days and that for me has been the biggest killer of fun.

Power of the people for the win!!! social media fans seem to be bigger fans and better informed so I'm all for it. And for the record I think Ashleigh fans got Winston out tonight, good on them, I say!

I agree with Marsh, fewer voters than during Jade Goody (RIP) heyday means a well organised targetted campaign can work.

I genuinely believe prior to show Winston was safe, Pav going. But the pro Winston cheers and banners alerted the other fans, especially fans of Christopher and Ashleigh of Winston's popularity, and they bandied together to vote him out.
