Default Why should each finalist win?

And why should each finalist not win? Thought it might be interesting to see what everyone thinks about the finalists and to share a positive and negative comment about each of the finalists on why they deserve to win Big Brother and why they don't. And try to avoid things like 'my favourite has no reasons to not deserve to win' or 'this housemate is the worst person ever so they don't deserve to win' :P No-one's perfect, find something.

Ash
Deserves to win because: He's been quite laid back throughout the series and has tried to enjoy himself and his time in the house. He's shown loyalty to his close friends in the house and has tried to be friendly to others he might not like that much.

Deserves to NOT win because: He's so laid back that he's barely noticeable. The first thing that comes to mind his him laughing manically, and often at the expense of others. His nasty comments that stopped after he got booed aren't something to forget either.

Ashleigh
Deserves to win because: She's shown intelligence and strength of character throughout the series. She's had some funny moments and most of her observations and conversations have been observant and intelligent. Despite being mostly a background character at first, she's risen to become a prominent character in the series. And going in with the stereotype of an attractive, young female model she has not used any of these things to help her popularity.

Deserves to NOT win because: She does let negative things get to her and though she does face them, it really affects her mood instead of her getting on with things. Whilst she has shown loyalty to her friends, she has also shown that she can turn against them with ease (eg, with Kimberly and her nomination of Christopher). She was also not a large part of the series for the first few weeks and mostly spent it with the wrong people.

Chris
Deserves to win because: He's been consistent throughout the series. He's funny, witty and his diary room/general observations are spot on and honest. He's tried to see the good side of everyone, whilst not ignoring their faults. He's very loyal to his friends and seems to have a very genuine relationship with the people he is close to. He's never tried to be anyone he isn't or tried to be nasty to people. For me, personally, he's been the most entertaining and fun housemate to watch.

Deserves to NOT win because: Like me, he finds a small group of friends and latches onto them and it can seem clingy or just disinterested in others. His over-admiration of his friends can be annoying. Whilst his treatment of Pav was meant in a nice way, it was also not really his place to step in. I think the last few weeks he's sort of given up and he's lost the enthusiasm he had to begin with.

Christopher
Deserves to win because: He was always the 'annoying little brother' of the house, but I think he's made the biggest change in accepting criticism and trying to change his bad habits without changing himself. He's fiercely loyal, as we've seen in his defence of Chris and his feelings towards Mark. He's a nice and caring guy who can be serious about serious things and also have a laugh.

Deserves to NOT win because: It did feel like he was 'blinded by love' of Mark and let Mark treat him like a dog. He can be irritating at times over little things and sometimes complains about length about trivial issues. He can sometimes give in to 'the dark side' as can be seen with his attempt at doing strange things after the focus group or getting cosy to Helen during the assassins task.

Helen
Deserves to win because: She's been a prominent character of the series. She is loyal to her close friends and can have a laugh. When something bothers her or angers her, she lets it be known.

Deserves to NOT win because: She has no respect for people she doesn't like or understand, being plain nasty to most of them and has been the instigator in most of the arguments in the house. She lacks the ability or will to reflect on her actions and how they might be affecting others. She lacks self-awareness, as is evident by her shock at being labelled most two-faced and most manipulative. She doesn't realise she's projecting herself onto others a lot of the time and is often highly hypocritical.

Pav
Deserves to win because: He seems like a mostly alright guy. He hasn't really been nasty to anyone and has tried to get to know them all, despite how they all treated him when he first entered the house. He bounced back from the accusations thrown at him very well.

Deserves to NOT win because: Pointless Pav. He just gets no air-time, I don't know anything about him or what he does in the house. He seems too scared to actually contribute anything of value and may just be lingering in the background to avoid getting noticed too much.

Great post. Really well thought out and balanced.

I agree with it all except i think Helen does show reflection, regret and self awareness for her words and moods (unlike Ashleigh, sadly)

The only problem with Helen is she can't seem to stop herself doing it all over again! Old habits die hard i guess, but at least she has the self-awareness to begin with - it's a first step in the right direction and hopefully being on this show, she will come out and see herself and make the changes for the better.

I can tell she wants to better herself but gets stuck in a rut with herself. We can all get like that at times.

I agree that she does notice that she does things wrong, but never quite completely reflects on the true effect of her actions. She complains about Ashleigh being miserable - but she's the one making Ashleigh miserable! I think that she may be able to really look at herself when she looks back at the show - someone should really make her watch the entire thing - and then she might be able to take steps to change. But as she stands, I see very little attempt from her at changing for the better.

I don't think she makes Ashleigh miserable. Helen started arguments with Danielle and Matthew but the Ashleigh/Helen clash came later evolving first from Ashleigh with her sideline observations with Danielle, both calling Helen vile etc.

Then came Ashleigh's 'evil plan' of taking the girls aside (deliberately excluding Helen) to prevent Ash being saved.

Helen first got wind of Ashleigh's negativity towards her in a) the morgue then b) in the gossip app task. Both times she was shocked by how deep Ashleigh's negativity towards her was.

So it was Ashleigh who started it ! She was the one who got the feud going and set the ball rolling deliberately against Helen.

From that point of view, it's more like Ashleigh making Helen miserable than the other way round !

It started because Helen etc sat around talking about sex all the time and making nasty comments. Danielle and Ashleigh pulled away from that group because they found it disgusting and unpleasant and hatred grew. It didn't turn into Ashleigh vs Helen until those tasks, but it was always Helen and co that were making her uncomfortable.

Btw, I'm not saying it's entirely Helen's fault - they both clashed and it grew from there. Both are stubborn and will never see eye to eye on anything. Everything each one does will seem horrible and nasty to the other. The difference I think is that, to me, Helen doesn't seem to care if she makes other's miserable (hence shouting in their faces and insulting them to their face), whereas Ashleigh doesn't seem to want to hurt anyone's feelings and goes off and vents elsewhere. Even that is seen differently from Helen and other people's points of view - Helen thinks she's being honest and direct and that Ashleigh is being two-faced and bitchy.
