A Ghost Story

The room was as cold and dark as a tomb, so despite my weariness, I was too frightened to sleep. I just lay there on the floor instead, staring into the dying embers of my makeshift fire, listening to the banging in the wind of some old shutters in a distant room.

Then, I heard it... another sound.... drawing nearer....
