This is why I can't stand Atheists. They think they are above everyone and smarter than everyone and yet come out with something stupid like the big bang theory is why we're all here or the monkey evolution.
I'm not claiming i'm the most religious but...you know what I don't actually want to talk about religion.

It tells me you're deluded as you like to generalise about millions of people you don't know.

But you're not Christian so it automatically makes you intellectually superior, right? Yawn.

What has that to do with the generally factual post by Lostalex?

and as for the "something stupid like the big bang theory is why we're all here or the monkey evolution."

words indeed fail me

The things about believing is that that's why those that believe are called believers or are said to have faith it's because things were never meant to conform to what people deem normal or "accurate". Like the Virgin Mary thing, everyday people would say how is this even accurate, you need to have sex to become pregnant simple as that. But the person with a sense of faith or belief will believe the story of Mary. Let it be you can believe in science and lone evolution of the brain if you want but stop attacking people that want to have faith and want to believe that there is something bigger than us vile cretins walking this polluted planet.

But yes without looking it up, name me some events (not jesus, or mary) that happened, an inspirational poem, some of the events revealed in the book of revelations stating the end is nigh.

That's not strictly true, atheists don't believe in God, so why would they waste their time reading through a book and studying about something they don't believe in?

Because many were brought up as believers and then thought, hang on this aint right and then did their own research to realise the truth.

Exactly, that's the thing. I'm Irish and I was born into Catholicism, like pretty much everyone I know here. I have every right to question the fact that this stuff was forced on me and I have every right to be annoyed that the vast majority of "state" schools here in Ireland are Catholic.

That's a fair point.

Me personally, being an atheist, i have no desire whatsoever to look into religion and to see what people who do believe see, I mean, i did well at it in school and had one of the top grades, but even then when it was being force fed to us in every single lesson that it was fact and everything else was wrong, i didn't believe a single word of it, i can't see how anyone who really looks at what the bible and various other teachings say, can believe it.
Imo it's a load of incoherent hearsay, written down to brainwash the masses.

You do know that the virgin/miraculous birth myth is prevalent in many many religions like Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. It was quite the rage back in the day

And let's get one thing clear.

'This is why I hate atheists'

Notice nobody has kicked off about that.

Now imagine if Leather Trumpet had said 'this is why I hate Christians'

I have to recite a poem from Psalms from memory?

I would hope that all believers at least have read Psalm 118 however

and I have read revelation and indeed studied it briefly at Bible study ( which is more than I would imagine 90% of believers and its incomprehensible babble - its as dull as listening to a friend recount some long dream they had).

It stems from the standard line "oh why dost thou attack me so for my beliefs"

and that stems from the old idea that we should respect and not question religion

Thankfully this is on its last legs at least in the UK but then have a wee look at Islam.....

He probably would have been banned.
Another reason why the majority of religious people are hypocrites, despise people ridiculing their beliefs, but see fit to dismiss others and ridicule them for theirs.

You THINK you are ridiculing their belief, but we understand that if you're but a mere earthling you would simplify things with "logic" from down huurr, anything more is too much for your little earthling brain to get.

And I totally understand that a lot of Atheists are people that began by reading the bible then looked at the world and read the words and nothing added up or made sense. I get it. Life is ****ty, things are much easier if we take control and make things make sense rather than believing in words that were written by some randoms thousands of years ago based on events around that timer rather than modern times. I get it.

Believe what you want, honestly it's fine. But if you start bleating your mouth off about how this is this and that is that I don't know how you can't expect a rebuttal. If you really believe what you believe you should be prepared to defend it when you start laying it out at everybody. That's the fundamental difference in my opinion.

Also, nobody's saying you can't question religion. Question it to your hearts content but ridiculing someone/people who believes differently isn't the same thing.
