Default Simon cost Fleur the win

After his openly biased liking of her, people who dislike him threw votes Bens way. Its amazing how many people are willing to vote for people he doesent like. Ok he was close to him but he made it abundantly clear that he favoured Fleur. My neighbour told me this morning she voted twice for Ben because she didn't want Simon to win with |Fleur. Strange that isn't it.

They were both his acts and he showed blatant favouritism, end of story.

Bit of a big assumption that people voted for Ben purely on the basis that Simon was more vocal about Fleur. I'm sure a certain percentage of viewers did. But the fact Andrea had the highest votes for weeks one to three then Ben was the clear winner from then onwards seems to suggest that Simon hyping up Fleur had very little to do with her losing.

Certainly last light too Simon seemed far more enthusiastic about Ben prior to the winner reveal.

Fleur just wasn't as popular as people thought she was, considering her and Ben, out of all the other acts in the competition, have never been in the bottom 2 (well obviously), for the first few weeks she was kind of middle table, and then more towards the top end. From the voting statistics, the winner was always going to be Ben.

I didn't watch it this year but I heard that the winners song suited Ben alot more than Fleur, if Simon really was that biased how come he let the winners song suit Ben more than her?

Simon had no control over the song and who it suited. It was commissioned and given to them to sing. How they portrayed it was up to them, they had free reign to do their own production. Ben sang his well within the songs scope and scales, Fleur cant sing unless she is belting it out and this song wasn't a belter, her range was left wanting at the lower levels and good in parts at the top level but her range is very limited as most Karaoke singers will find.

I don't know if I believe that, I reckon Simon has control over everything that goes on in the show

When I say control, he commissioned this song months ago before he knew who would be in the final. These songs are not written in the final days of the show plus Simon cant write or read music, he just paid for a potential hit.

What happened to the final rendition was down to the contestants and one of them couldn't handle the songs range and one could. Hence bens rendition was better.

Didn't Andrea have a different song though? A more ballad type that would have suited Fleur more? Why couldn't he just give her that one then?

Considering Ben won the vote every week since week 4, I don't think Simon had an influence on the final result

They probably chose Something I Need as it favoured Ben because they knew he was the winner before the finale even started.

The votes show your statement to be flawed as horny old women vote but they are by far the minority, its the kids that vote the most and Fleur didn't cut the mustard with the voters and those that provide the demographic of th0se that buy cd,s.

What a way to speak about Josy

Personally Sam, I think Simon loved Ben and Fleur equally though he definately favoured Bens voice with the song, but then I read somewhere that Fleur was due to sing a Janet Jackson song but she wouldn't give permission so maybe they just ran out of time to get permission for a song?
