It's "news" because there have been police out in riot gear and people are kicking off. Many claiming that the spot where there is a gun lying marked as evidence, had no gun in it earlier.

However, I personally am a bit dubious this time and suspect this young man did pull out a gun. Which leads to an interesting problem. Seems like people are going to start riots every time a young person is shot, whether they are in fact dangerous or not. Of course people are right to take to the streets when an unarmed kid gets shot but, one wonders, because that has happened a few times, have (stupid, sheepy) people become unable to tell the difference between that and incidents where firearms really are involved? Does someone else actually have to be shot before an armed criminal can be fired upon?

Why can't they find any examples of INNOCENT black men to rally around? why is it always asshole thugs that deserved it that people rally around? I really don't understand.

If a white 18 year old was shot I bet no where near as much 'shock' would be received.

Going by the Sky article it sounds pretty standard really. The teenager had a criminal history and pointing a gun right at a police officer will lead you to be shot yourself.

I haven't seen this reported on the national news shows here.

Hell has frozen over.

Anyway. You don't ever point your gun at a police officer. Especially in a place like that.

I don't get how the American police keep getting away with this time after time after time. It's a complete testament to how racism is so deep seated in society that this is happening over and over.
