Default Anyone Else Feel/Felt Really Down At Night For No Reason?

For a week or so I've been really weird. I enjoy life. Spend a lot of my day laughing and what not and there isn't any major reasons for me to feel upset about, but every night usually when I'm about to go sleep or I'm in bed I just feel really down for some reason. It's weird. It rarely ever is an issue when I wake up and go about my day. But it's an issue at night and can sometimes be a struggle to go sleep.

Anyone else had this before?

P.S. Any one who tries make a joke from the title is a flop.

It's odd isn't it? are you sure there's nothing your pushing away and not dealing with in your work or personal life?
If not then just try to exchange the negative thoughts for positive ones, plan things in your head, things to do places to go.
Hope you feel more yourself soon

Yeah i get this quite a lot.

This may sound weird but maybe try going outside in the garden and just looking up at the sky. For some reason i feel content when i do that. Something about the stars and the night sky and the cold breeze just settles me.

I'm feeling like crap atm but that was due to something happening a few hours ago, mind you during the night you over think everything. It's very easy to think yourself into a bad mood

The first thing that came to my head

I go through stages of it too, its usually during this time of the year too where everything just seems dull, boring and negative & probably down to my bad sleeping pattern.

There is a Seasonal Disorder many experience at this time of year.
One of the things that is associated with it is lack of sun/natural light exposure.
Some find tanning can help, doctors may suggest Vit.D is an inexpensive and safe treatment to try. A lot of doctors will look to a mild anti depressant though.

But overall, you aren't alone in this feeling, so don't panic.

Good Idea actually I never thought of that, I just got prescribed vit D, steer clear of anti depressants.

I am not a proponent of anti-depressants myself, but I do think that a person should explore all the options for their own health and make an informed choice. At the end of the day, no one knows your body and mind like you, not even your doctor. Take knowledge from all sides, and decide for yourself.

Mokka's correct, I have suffered from this all my life - even from before it was recognised as a disorder. I have just got acclimatised to it and never let it 'get me down' or interfere with my life. Here's an excerpt from the NHS website (I don't know how to post links and things) just google Seasonal Affective Disorder or S.A.D. for more:

"Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that has a seasonal pattern.
The episodes of depression tend to occur at the same time each year, usually during the winter.
As with other types of depression, the two main symptoms of SAD are a low mood and a lack of interest in life. You may also be less active than normal and sleep more."

GypsyGoth is correct too; just gazing up at the starry night sky really helps (with any kind of problems) I know it might sound 'Zen' but it helps put things into perspective. I often wrap up, take a cup of hot coffee out into the garden at 3 or 4 am and just look up at the sky as I sip it. Total silence and solitude and all that star-filled endless indigo. You quickly realise how infinitely miniscule you are, how insignificant your teeny weeny problems are, and how you, nor them really matter a jot in the grand scheme of things. And then you realise just how truly good it is to be alive.

I hope you come to terms with your S.A.D. and that knowing now that you're not alone has helped.

I suffer from SAD myself, it's really confusing and horrible, it usually takes effect at night and when I'm getting up in the morning, but usually goes away when the sun has risen. It sounds like you have SAD but I agree with everyone saying you shouldn't try to take the diagnosis into your own hands. I heard UV lights can work to reduce it as well as taking vitamin d supplements. Anyway, you're not alone, there's lots of people here who'll chat with you on sleepless night.

Might be night time depression Leon.

And I was just thinking along the same lines as LT by the looks of it..

If you aren't exercising a lot then try adding some more into your routine, or even change up your night time routine? go for a run, phone/text someone you enjoy talking to etc.
