Default Do you buy Video Games based off what critics say?

Me and My Brother had a chat a few days ago about how we think that Video Game critics constant bad reviews on certain types of Games are killing those genres off in the Video Game world.

My question is that do you buy Video Games based off critical reviews or do you just go with what you like the look of? I'm not gonna lie I do tend to stay away from Video Games that score really low on critical reviews, but if I do really like the look of a negatively reviewed Video Game I'll still buy it regardless.

This isn't meant to cause an argument, because tbf it might be more sensible to go with something that seems more universally liked with how expensive Games are, I'm just a bit of a Gambler and I like to go for the niche supported Games sometimes.
