They could have the houses aware of each other, but they don't meet so don't know who the other housemates are.

But then history tells us the walls are paper thin so the secret would be out within a day.

The second house is hardly going to be a secret, even if HMs are in hiding now. If they've seen the show they will notice the huge two storey extension stuck on the side.

Also

Given we only get one episode a night, how would they do this, we would get two days coverage of one house (in an episode)... The only way this could work is if episodes were two hours long, unless they really want to chop down the editing so it is more of a Ex on the Beach/Geordie Shore style of editing. This is also where live feed is important and should be a part of the format.

See I'd much prefer this idea to celebs and it might be interesting, but I don't see what the point of it would be?

Surely if you're putting relatives in you'd rather have them living together to watch the dynamic? What's there to gain if they exist without knowing each other are there the entire series? It'd be one 'shock' revelation and then back to normal as usual

And I'm sure the 'big reveal' would be a huge event.
