Then why set herself up by even mentioning she was a Mother and that her Children and Grandchildren have a stake in the future.

She was the one who brought Theresa May's name into the interview, not the reporters.
Then she used that to set herself aside from May because she has children and Theresa May does not.

She has simply been caught out for the probable but in my view certain deceit she is trying to bring to her ambitions.

The choices, in my opinion, between these 2 for PM are like either having all your top teeth pulled out or all your bottom teeth pulled out.
However that one is a Mother with Grandchildren is neither here nor there, or should it be, so why should she get away with raising that comparison, by any means,at all anyway.

Hopefully this has sealed her fate in this contest and deservedly negatively.

Sounds like a set up to me so I really want to know more about the interview and the context of her comments rather than get a bit hysterical over what was allegedly said. People are desperate for May, a remainer, to be PM. Funny how no one smells a rat if it all fits in with their own agenda.

well I heard her say it and watched a full interview with the Times journo

Yes the sub Editor made the headline slightly more controversial as is always the way but it was exactly what she said, no question about it at all.

Like leave supporters saying there should only be a brexit leader now and PM.

Does that not suit an agenda too then.

I cannot bear either of them but at least Theresa May has a stronger level of experience in govt, particularly with the EU as Home Secretary than Leadsom.

Desperate for May, I doubt many outside the Conservative party and a lot of its supporters are that to be honest and I certainly am not.

LT! How lovely to hear from you. I thought you had me on ignore...

I'd still like to hear it for myself for the context.

Meh. Someone with children has a slight advantage for me in terms of becoming the leader of a country, because someone with children is forced to think beyond the scope of their own lifetime in ways that a childless person will never have to.

I don't see anything wrong with that as an opinion, to be honest. I guess it might leave childless people feeling a little butthurt or whatever but to be frank, I'm sick of there being limits on what people can and can't say for fear of "causing offense" or "hurting feelings". It's boring.

For me it's got little to do with hurt feelings, family life is something that wouldn't be brought up between two male candidates, neither would the colour of their tie or the length of their sleeve unless it was a serious wardrobe malfunction that deserved some ridicule

I don't think it was a poke at May, she was asked a question and answered it. I don't agree with what she said but I don't think she meant any injury to anyone in particular.

She should indeed.

There was absolutely no need to make any issue of it and build herself up as to it,and certainly no reason to mention Theresa May either, since the interviewer never mentioned or asked about Theresa May anyway.

Yeah Theresa May feels sad because someone said something about her not having kids. We need to make her feel better somehow! I know what will help, let's put her in charge of the entire country! She deserves it now because she's feeling a bit down-in-the-dumps.

It's OK, we already know that LT only cares about LT

You can hardly blame her team for using this to their advantage, if Andrea hasn't the common sense to keep her mouth shut on such issues

..that would only apply though or would only have a possibility of applying to what her 'visions' would be as a country leader if it was her motivation and not her own personal career move...but anyway it doesn't give her any advantage for me because it assumes or implies that those without children..(specifically females..)...don't see beyond themselves, which is totally ridiculous....

I don't think it was meant as a pop at May, though obviously it can be seen that way.

That said, these two choices for me are like chosing between sticking a pin in my eye and sticking a needle in my eye tbh. Same ****, different name.
