It's like Harry Potter but with more sex and violence and not as good but then it gets pretty good in it's own right as the series goes on. I'm perched for Season 2 tbh.

I hated them in the first episode because they were horrible to Alice but Eliot rapidly grew on me since (and from what I've read so far of the first book, the show's portrayal of Eliot is perfect ).

I still haven't seen as much from Margo but I'm gonna carry on with it soon so I'll report back on that front

I love the hedge witch Marina, she's one of my favourites atm.

I annoyingly read a spoiler about Eliza being Jane a while ago (which in fairness I'd probably have started suspecting by myself in this episode but not before because I'm dense) but I was expecting that to be revealed in the finale.

Well, episode 9 was dark

Spoiler:

As with the Eliza = Jane Chatwin reveal in the last ep, I'd already found out about the reveal of Plover abusing Martin Chatwin a while back but seeing the episode play out wasn't any less awful. They did it really well by showing Plover as a kind, grandfatherly sort of figure and then slowly revealing his nature during that scene, it really was so unsettling. And his sister killing those other children

Since the story of the Chatwins and Fillory seems to be an intentional riff on the Pevensie children and Narnia, Plover in the pre-reveal scenes was reminding me of the Professor from the Narnia stories, which only makes it all even more disturbing.

I liked the Julia subplot too (though she is feeling increasingly detatched from the main storyline). I really liked all the stuff with Kira and that scene of her death as seen from inside her mind worked really well.

I'll probably wait until after it's over to watch. Apparently Sci-Fi censors the episodes when they first air and hearing bleeps every three seconds would annoy me.

Oh the episodes for season 1 I watched were censored too, instead of bleeps the swear words were just silenced which was irritating

Censorship is so odd. Yeah, let's leave the graphic scenes of murder and rape intact but get rid of those awful swear words.

I watched the uncensored ones, I didn't realise they were censored on release until I read an article on season 2. It's literally the most pointless thing ever. Why put it in if they're going to censor it?
