Just on SkyNewsHD

He said its a Distraction
the Former PM being a local MP.

He informed the PM before going public.
So a by election to happen in Witney
He is aged 49,

Being interviewed now, he feels he is a distraction on the back benches

i think its sensible. We don't want any of the crap that comes from an ex pm disagreeing with the current leadership. For those that may not remember, Ted Heath came across as really bitter when Maggie T took over

Never a politician I supported, however against the odds he won an overall majority in the system we have.
I disagreed more with him than with him, however for me he did his very best in the EU referendum but sadly his word was rejected by the majority of those who voted in it.

I think he would have likely been going anyway, he was giving up the leadership by 2019 in any event.

I hope he has a good retirement from being an MP and in high profile politics, I am also sure we will hear from him again, even if it is just to say, ''I told you so'', if all goes pear shaped as we prepare to leave the EU.

He turned out a better leader for his Party than I gave him credit for however.
Good luck to him in the future.

Cameron was a great PM for this country and now we have Teresa May another amazing leader who will lead us out of the EU as promised and onto bigger and better things. Bring on the good times!

I will always look on him as one of the best PMs we have had,he didn't always get it right but I think he meant well,I hope he enjoys being out of the limelight and will have many happy times with his family.

I think he would have stayed on but he realises that May is basically going to dismantle his agenda bit by bit and take the party (and country) in a different direction than he would have liked. That makes his position a lot more awkward.

..I guess it's hard, a boss staying on in a Company when they're not boss of it anymore but just an employee and that's essentially what it is and how it must feel for him.../anyway I wish him well, I'm sure that he has lots of opportunities open to him...

Thumbs up

Good luck to him and his family.
Nice early retirement from Parliament, no doubt he can pick and choose what he would like to do next.

...when the competition in any way recent memory is unelected bore Gordon Brown, war criminal Tony Blair, Dull as Dishwater John Major, and ****ing Thatcher... it's not hard to look OK.

He was completely out-rottened by the likes of Osborne, IDS, Gove, Hunt though so we'll give him points for that too.

I am reminded of the saying be careful what you wish for, I would far rather have him as PM than Theresa May any day of the week.
Anyway I still wish him the best for the future, I hardy ever agreed with him as I said before but I found it sad the way his Parliamentary career carer to end so quickly and not how he hoped for it to.

At least, unlike Blair, Cameron will have some highlights to look back on. Giving gay people the same marriage rights as straight people and keeping his promise to have an EU referendum... for instance.
