... Aww I can't stay mad at him, his mercenary beard is just too ****ing fantastic. I also refuse to believe that the Iraqi locals - or anyone else for that matter - would do anything other than compliment him on it.

To be fair the USA have been bombing the shiz out of the country for decades... They're hardly going to see them as the great redeemers are they?

It's because they're EvilMuslims Kizzy, not because most of them have family members killed in western bombing campaigns who they've had to scrape off a wall just so they can bury what's left. Don't be SO ridiculous.

Hypothetical situation LT. Let's say Britain gets taken over by a dictatorship. It's bad but life for most goes on pretty much as normal. Now a foreign country "helps" us to remove that dictator by bombing the **** out of our towns, and in one of those bombing campaigns, your children are blown to bits.

Fast forward a few years and there's a mercenary from that country - not even a soldier, but a mercenary, a war profiteer - walking down your local high street.

What do you want to do to him?

What has that simplified hypo have to do with the USA rightly stopping Iraq people from entering the USA as they fear they will be a security issue?

This thread is about what the USA soldier stated, if you wish to start a thread about why the indigenous misinformed iraq populace hate the USA then do so

The obvious intent of the video is to paint the Iraq populace as generally violent / savage / incompatible with Western values and it has a direct implications on the thread in that sense, especially on your "from source not Beyonce" contribution. I'm pointing out that this "source" has obviously been in a highly volatile situation and there's basically no grounds for comparing that to every Iraqi entering the US. The suggestion seems to be that "they just want to murder western folks because they're western and EvilMuslims hate them".

So, I was pointing out that what this fellow is actually talking about is being a combatant (and I feel like I need to point out again, a mercenary, not a soldier) walking amoungst people who have had their lives directly affected, their families killed, in US military action. It's not a equatable situation. He tried to make it one. Others will try to follow suit.

I'll pose a question, in all the years since say... the gulf war started, excluding the twin towers as that was 'evidenced' to be Libya, what direct terrorism from extremist Muslims has the US experienced on American soil?

He gave direct experience and evidence of being a mercenary (he is an ex-soldier LT, give it up) in a warzone. Some would like to then take that information and over-simplify the implications in order to suit their own agenda.

What is the subject of the thread? The OP is just a video and a description of that video... it doesn't pose a question or propose a discussion topic... therefore the thread - surely - is open to interpretation and can include any topic directly relating to the video?

I would consider it risky for all of the reasons that I have quite clearly outlined in this thread. Where did I say that he WASN'T at risk? My point - my only point - is that if these issues are ever going to come to any sort of positive conclusion (not that I think that's even realistic) then the actual reasons that we would not be safe walking around there need to be examined and addressed. "Dey is bads folks who wants to hurt teh good folks" is just not going to ****ing cut it.

Gern said the tension and danger for Americans abroad has ramped up since the travel ban started in President Trump’s second week in office. It restricts travel from seven Muslim-majority countries, including Iraq.

“The Iraqis, in general, have very little respect for any America –regardless of whether you’re a Marine, a contractor, or a civilian—they have very little respect for you,” Gern told Fox News. “The United States pumps more and more money and it’s not appreciated –why don’t we just take care of our own?”

Gern told Fox News he has not had contact with his company, and is concerned about losing his job after posting the video, but felt it was necessary.

“This is boots on the ground—this is what’s actually happening—I know firsthand,” Gern told Fox News. “People are being naive—they need to understand there is a reason we have processes and policies in place to protect Americans.”
