Default Critics demand Khloe Kardashian's Protein World Tube advert is scrapped

Critics demand Khloe Kardashian's Protein World Tube advert is scrapped by London Underground for 'body shaming' young women
  • Protein World has caused controversy with advert featuring Khloe Kardashian
  • It comes after company's controversial 'are you beach body ready' 2015 advert
  • Sadiq Khan came under fire after pledging to rid the capital of such campaigns

Mr Khan said that as a father of teenage daughters he would ban unhealthy or unrealistic body image posters from London buses, the Tube and London Overground.

Critics have now called on the Mayor to stay true to his word and remove the image starring Khloe - the sister of Kim - amid fears it could cause confidence issues among young women.

The advert shows Khloe in a seductive pose in a leotard promoting the company's 30-day 'slender' weight-loss plan.

The tagline reads 'can you keep up with a Kardashian?'

On Protein World's website, Khloe explains how getting a 'dream body' takes 'dedication and literal sweat and tears.'

She adds: 'For me, weight loss has always been about feeling great on the inside and out. Anything worth having is worth fighting for.'

Should this advert be banned?

I see no reason why it should be banned.

Don't think it's as exclusive as their other one was, so I don't see what the problem with it is (aside from any photoshopping issues, etc)

I think if you are using a women as an advert for weight loss and body reshaping it should be illegal to use digital enhancement

I agree.I'd rather see what her real ass looks like.Looking at photoshopped images of women is almost like looking at a cartoon.

That's a good point, it's kind of like false advertising in a way

Thats an excellent point...

.. but its not the point that was made in the article

Should it be banned for the points raised in the article? No
Should it be banned for the point you brought up? Yeh actually

I don't disagree with images of young women looking healthy I don't see that as body shaming , however that image has been altered and as said that is totally wrong.

What I do object to is the product, young women do not need protein powders, as they will get all they need from the food they eat. Only bodybuilders need these products.

I agree with LT *Checks to see if the sky is falling*

I think Khan's reasons for wanting to ban adverts like that are understandable but also patronising to women in general. I do think they should be banned for the reason that LT stated though.

I agree with LT too.

Those images are pretty much false advertising as she looks nothing like that in real life.

Saw these in london the other week and commented on how they looked like they had been altered on photoshop. Why does she have white lines up her legs?!? R.

She's supposedly wearing shiny flesh coloured dance tights, that is the reflection.
