I don't know...it certainly calmed down my temper and made me more...understanding about things. I have a hell of a lot more patience now also. So...maybe?

Just having a child does not make you more rounded at all. In an ideal world I guess it would but there are too many unwanted unloved and neglected children to assume that just having a child makes you more rounded. Some people step up.....others dont

I don't have kids so I don't know, but I'd guess that suddenly having a huge responsibility like that would force you to be more, well, responsible. I don't know about 'better as a person' though, you hear plenty of stories about awful people who are parents so it can't be as simple as that. Probably what Annie said about some stepping up and others not, it probably just depends on the person.

Not necessarily.
Good, bad, rounded and not in both camps. It might be fulfilling for some and some might consider it a nightmare. It has certainly grounded me, |

It rounds you if you embrace parenthood, if you don't then you stay the same ...

Some people should never be allowed to have kids.
Having a child or children with disabilities is far more of test as a parent then having kids that are healthy. I consider myself to be a good parent but I'm far from perfect, making mistakes is part of life, if you do the best you can with what you have then that makes you a good parent. You never stop being a parent. |

I'd like to think so. I can't wait to have kids for these reasons and more. They give you hope and purpose for the future.

Having children makes you human, most people can do that. It doesn't take much.
Bringing children up is a task that can contribute to the person you are and round you out of course. Make you more of a person than someone who doesn't have kids? No. |

Well it certainly changes you.Makes you realise what's important in life, calms you down if you were a party animal,Gives you more responsibility than you've ever had before,You can't be selfish anymore. There's no slacking off or quitting. It's a career. Not sure if it makes you more rounded.

Having kids might make you reevaluate your life and make better choices, not sure that equates to you being a better person generally.
It's a commitment that will make or break you for sure.

I think it makes some people into better people however i dont think everyone should be a mother or motherhood contributes everyone.
We have obvious reasons of good results of motherhood so lets skip that For bad reasons, i think a lot of women lose their identity after giving birth and they go from being Melanie to Mark's mother. They always talk about their kids, post pictures of them.. When you ask them what about you they cant give an answer and when their kids go to uni etc they kinda go into depression. Women&men become way more responsible and calmer.. but is that really a good thing? Sure it is a good thing in a way because you have to take care of your baby you gave a birth to. But i dont like the fact that society forces you to have babies and basically want you to live under same rules and become same sorts of people and i think thats sad, diversity is very much needed and i think too many people are having kids. Life should not be about one way of living. I am gonna have a development psychology this semester so i think i will have a better answer in couple of months
