Default 815 staff to lose jobs as owner of 34 Budgens stores fails

http://news.sky.com/story/pwc-815-st...fails-10793405

Administrators say 815 people are to lose their jobs after the owner of 34 Budgens-branded stores collapsed.

The announcement was made just nine months after Food Retailer Group - part of restructuring specialists, Hilco - bought the stores from the Co-op.
It had blamed poor trading for the failure.

The problem is McColls and Nisa
have their own brand food sold in both stores
called Heritage
matching or cheaper than Tesco.

Some small Co-Op's
have been sold to McColls
changing overninght

Co - Op Bank Ethical
Failed - never worked
so its pulling down the whole
of the Co-Op

And this is Bad news:
Joint administrator, Mike Denny, said: "Unfortunately, we have been unable to find a buyer and it is not commercially viable to continue trading the stores."

Don't think I've ever heard of them, but sad that more job cuts are occurring.

We had our Co-op taken over by Budgens , it's been there a couple of months and it closes altogether tomorrow, they are even selling the fixtures and fittings, it was never busy as prices were so high , not surprised it failed , it had a 'Happy Shopper' section but that was cheap and tacky ,the rest of the goods you could get for the same price or less at Waitrose, we have only two supermarkets now which are Waitrose and Aldi.
