I saw it last night. It's good, but I doubt it is as good as the original (if you liked it). I'd give it 8 out of ten. It's a long film, which I didn't mind when watching it - I didn't feel the length too much. The scene where Officer K meets Deckard goes on for a long time with K wandering around before Deckard shows up, and you know he is going to appear because it was in the original trailer (and shorter).
I thought the ending... Spoiler: Officer K gives so little away emotionally, and you don't get much first-hand insight into his character so I liked the holographic girlfriend, Joi, because she is supposedly designed to tell him what he wants to hear that you learn more about K. The style of it, and some of the scenes, are very reminiscent of the original - sometimes to close?, obviously the director are big fans of the original film. The soundtrack is also in-keeping with the legendary Vangelis score, although I'd have to listen to it again to hear if there are any great new-musical themes. I probably would want to see it again, as there is quite a lot going on thematically, and it might improve on further viewings. |
