Default Tories vow to end 'rip-off' energy bills

"Theresa May has vowed to end the "injustice" of rising energy costs by including a cap in the Conservative general election manifesto."

I feel like she is a guardian angel from heaven, she's wonderful.

Ed Miliband planned this a few years ago.
It was described as totally wrong by the Cons at that time and that it was unworkable.

Seems. Labour may have had the better idea after all.

Yeah Ed Milliband! Why didn't you follow up on your promise to introduce a cap on energy bills after becoming Prime Minister, Ed Miliband. Stupid, lazy, lying ex-Prime Minister Ed Milliband.

Of course it is good but under Labour this would have been done 2 years ago.

Now the Cons agree it is a rip off, they have however allowed that rip off to continue right through 2015,2016 to the present.

How could Labour follow it up for goodness sake, they didn't win in 2015??

Exactly and the Cons and a good number of Con supporters ridiculed him for this disastrous policy as they saw it.

Now it's agreed the Companies are in fact ripping people off after all after letting them do so for a few more years.
Unbelievable.

Mrs May suggested the move could save about 17 million customers up to £100 a year.
"Like millions of working families, I am fed up with rip-off energy prices," she wrote in The Sun. "Gas and electricity bills only ever seem to go in one direction, eating up more and more of your monthly pay packet

could she be any more patronising, give people a decent payrise for starters y=

So basically Mrs Mays idea is to cap variable rate tariffs which most people should'nt be on anyway, so basically you will get a cap on a horrendous deal, to pay for this the Big 6 will take away the fixed rate deals so everyone as well as the 17 million people who cant be arsed to switch will be worse off I found her talk about helping hard working people with their energy bills a bit off as well, given the elderly need more heat than anyone

Well I don't know about gas but I do know my neighbour is a pensioner and gets around £150 in November/December to help with fuel, the lady I know uses a pre-payment key and she gets it on that for her electric, plus her £200 winter fuel allowance and she is quite happy with that .

she doesn't need to say it will help hardworking families a cap on heating should be aimed at helping anyone who likes a warm home, its like strong and stable leadership, she needs to shoe horn hard working families into everything, I find it a bit creepy and robotic how briefed she is and the way she sticks to the theme like her life depends on it.

What I think, and before when Milliband proposed it, is that rising energy prices are just a result of energy getting progressively more expensive to produce.

One of his best

This is emblematic of what I posted in that other thread last night. Labour propose something, it's denounced as Marxist and anti-business, the Tories propose almost the same thing two years later and suddenly it's a great idea
