Default So Tory supporters

Are you happy that only English and Welsh pensioners will have their fuel allowance means tested at a level that has not been specified...it's colder in Scotland...apparently ...or is it that the Torys are desperate to get one over on the SNP..shame they don't feel Labour is a similar threat or English and Welsh pensioners might get the same benefit

I'm not a tory supporter *spit* but my feeling is they are going to make it so hard too claim that many forgo the hassle and just do what the tories want, get hypothermia and die.

Scotland is freezing so it's fair. You wouldn't give winters fuel allowance to people living in the Carribean.

It was on the news, May has said Scotland has powers over its own benefits and they won't means test pensioners, meanwhile they will means test your Mum and Dad

I'm screaming at them being so desperate to win seats in Scotland that they're just not doing that policy up here

I don't doubt that but I hardly think May wants our pensioners to drop dead of hyperthermia. For me it makes sense to give it to those that need it. If they don't I don't feel they should get it. Leaves more in the pot for those that do.

So why does not not apply to Scottish pensioners? It won't leave any more in the pot than the 350 mil per week to the NHS it will be diverted elsewhere don't you worry about that

Its going to cost more to employ the staff to do the admin but then I suppose the Tories collect tax on admin staff... win, win.

Well it's not going to apply, because the Torys want votes in Scotland, so guess what ...... who pays the price...nothing to do with who can afford it, it's all about that landslide victory ..if this doesn't show exactly what the Torys are about nothing will in all honesty

It is up to the Scottish Parliament to decide. Devolution and all that.
It will come out of their own taxes I should imagine.

I hope the Welsh protect their pensioners as well, so it's only the English pensioners suffer, the idea that members can't see that this is a blatant move to win votes in Scotland while taking the votes elsewhere pretty much for granted is incredible

You're pointing out the flaws in devolution here.

In Scotland policies like this are decided by members of the Scottish Parliament (although a lot of it is still funded by the UK Treasury, which complicates it more). For England it is decided by the UK parliament, including Scottish MPs.
