Default How many more rights does the LGBT Community need in the UK?

Legal rights are pretty much equal but if you're asking this from a "we should give up pride and stop challenging homophobia" stance then it's quite obviously still a problem.

However I'm blurry on the rights of trans people.

Its not really a right, but the fact that gay men cant donate blood seems a bit backwards. I'm pretty sure UK has its **** together on every other lgbt stance?

No not at all. I'm curious as to what legal rights gay people have in this country. Tbh I don't pay that much attention to it. I know marriage etc has been legalised. Just wondered if there was anything else that had to be legalised.

Oh just checked, Scotland and Northern Ireland havent passed an annulment of convictions law, implying that there might still be prisoners that were sentenced for the crime of being gay.

Adoption - to the best of my knowledge - is now relatively equal although I can't help but suspect that same-sex couples would be placed under more scrutiny than opposite-sex ones.

There isn't really anything else that relationships come into regarding the law, is there?

I didn't know this, that's absurd. Anyone who wants to and meets the criteria (not HIV+, had a recent op or tatoo etc) should be welcomed with open arms to donate blood.

I think you will find that was health related because of the higher incidents of HIV in the gay community through the 80s and 90s and early difficulties in diagnosis rather than a prejudice against sexuality.

Doesn't explain why it's still an issue now when the Aids Crisis has been a memory for decades.

Cases of HIV among gay men are on the rise but yeah, it's a ridiculously outdated stipulation

Jesus, Jaxie! It's 2017!
I should hope they test a heterosexual mans blood before funneling it into someone(?), if so the same should be done for a gay man, if not then thats a huge concern in itself. What an odd thing to fight about.

There is still a big problem with gay men meeting strangers for sex in well know country side locations, councils keep cutting down vegetation, these areas are filled with used condoms tissues and lube.
The police do patrols but not enough, I think they turn a blind eye to it if I'm honest,

We still get false negatives but its not just HIV, its Hep B and Hep C as well.

In the UK its a deferral for 1 year and that's for both homosexual or bisexual men and women.

The differentiation just seems backwards to me.. like heterosexuals are immune to blood diseases or something.

Just food for thought. As it stands, civil partnerships and marriage are now both options for the gay community. As a hetero in a long term partnership, who does not want to marry, I don't have any option for civil partnership. Is that fair?

There was a great program on aids the other night, they reckon there are twenty five thousand people who have aids in this country and don't know it.
