Default Migrants in Calais kill van driver with tree trunks

A van driver has been killed in Calais after migrants caused a pile-up by blocking the road with tree trunks, French authorities said.

The vehicle, registered in Poland, smashed into other lorries on the A16 early on Tuesday morning and burst into flames, killing the man inside.

Nine Eritreans were found stowed in one of the lorries and were arrested, according to the Prefecture du Pas-de-Calais.

Ramping up the dehumanisation of migrants again?.. Can't see it working as well as it did.

are you saying this didn't happen, or the locals did it, they probably didn't mean to kill anyone but can it not be mentioned at all, should we just ignore someone needless death? If they could legitimately come to the UK and they wanted to do so they would be here, not there..

Masterfully turning manslaughter into murder with the thread title there. I can only assume you made it misleading on purpose... why is that, exactly?

For those who didn't actually follow the link: They did not deliberately kill a driver or even intend to hurt anyone. They blocked a road with tree trunks so that they could sneak into the trucks when they were forced to stop at the blockage. This went wrong and a truck hit the tree trunks, and the driver was killed in the crash.

Tragic? Yes.

Reckless? Yes.

Criminal? Almost certainly.

Deliberate killing? NO

But it seems that your tactic worked NM, some people clearly only bothered to read the thread title - which makes it look like they bludgeoned him to death with chunks of wood - and responded to that idea.

Can you see what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying.

It is not what is reported but how it is reported

yes TS dragging a tree trunk into a main road that is bound to be safe, no threat of killing anyone there now is there

naughty economic migrants

I will leave this here from the article

The UK-based Road Haulage Association has previously warned of the risk drivers face passing through the area.

Chief executive Richard Burnett said: "Our worst fears have become a reality. We have been predicting this for two years.

"The lives of innocent people, who want no more than to be able to go about their daily business in safety, are being put at risk by those whose only aim in life is to reach the UK.

"The security forces currently in place just cannot cope. It's not just Calais itself that need protecting; it's the approach roads too.

utterly disgusting

Cherry pick all you want LT but I did quite clearly say that it was reckless and criminal - what I was pointing out was that the thread title quite clearly makes it sound like the INTENT of the people who did it was to kill a truck driver just because they wanted to or for fun, which is blatantly misleading.

Shame on our country if we allow them in. We don't want the types of people who are prepared to kill people to get what they want.

Their actions should have ruined any chance they stood of coming to Britain.

the question no-one is asking

With all the surveillance and monitoring, fences, patrols, dogs etc, how were they able to get the trees on the road in the first place

There is no lies in the thread title just pure fact.If they'd done it deliberately then i'd have put 'deliberately' in the title.I did'nt put 'accidentally' because to me this is more than just an accident. They killed somebody by doing something that must be illegal and is highly dangerous and irresponsible and anybody with half a brain would know that this was a very likely outcome.
There's no excusing it imo.

You said they "killed him with tree trunks" not that they blocked the road with tree trunks. Plausible deniability? Sure. And I'm sure there are plenty of people who will buy that or give you the benefit of the doubt. I'm just letting you know that I see through it like wet tissue paper and you're wasting your time trying to claim otherwise. Feel free to not care about that but... Meh. Is what it is.

I agree that the article is written in a misleading way for the purpose of demonising migrants as a whole rather than condemning the people whose stupidity cost a man his life.

You'd have to be wilfully ignorant not to see that it's written that way.

It's a clickbait title. Playing games to represent another agenda by manipulating the truth in supposedly "clever" ways. If you want to try to bull**** people that's entirely your own business but like I said, trying to convince me that it's anything other than that is a waste of everyone's time.

Oh wow. Burn. I'm surprised anyone would want to come to the country at all, for fear of being cut end to end by this sort of razor-sharp social commentary.
