Apparently being called snowflakes damages the health of young people.

Maybe some suitable medicine would be some advice that it isn’t Advisable to dish it out if you can’t take it.

I think the problem is genuinely that these people feel the need to insert their opinions into everything, but take anyone also asserting their own opinion as some kind of personal attack. So basically..I have a right to speak, but noone can answer back. If you do you are a big meanie

And sorry but 'snowflake' is entirely accurate for many of todays youth (and older people, but mainly youth)

This comes back to the age-old issue, though: "Today's Youth" didn't spring up out of the ground like new potatoes. That only happens in Ireland. In the real world, each generation is raised by the last... and everything is a progression. Todays "Snowflakes" are a direct result of the expectations and entitlements of the post-war generations.

I don't think its how they were raised. I think its how Universities and such have gone in recent times. Yes some of the entitlement may come from how they were raised..but it seems to be once they hit Uni that they 'become' special snowflakes who cannot be criticized. I find the idea of 'safe spaces' in Unis to be ridiculous. Uni is meant to be where you learn about how the real world is, not where you cocoon yourself in among like minded people and thus never be criticized ever. Echo chambers are not good, and should not be encouraged.

My brother is currently at Uni and says its bloody ridiculous how so many behave. 'Oppression olympics' is used fairly often when he is ranting about stuff. I remember Unis to be somewhere where your opinions were regularly challenged, and this is good no? Now its...omg X has an opinion that I disagree with 'bigot!' *cry* 'where is my safe space'

I would say it's not an affliction of 'snowflakes' but those also who use those terms to describe others.

Have you tried to counter an opinion on anyone on an issue and met a wall of 'snowflake'! 'unpartriotic'! ' PC brigade'! ' leftie'!

I think that’s a cop-out. It sounds like the old adage blame the mother whenever a child has problems.

Peer pressure is huge and once kids get to a certain age often takes over from parental influence. Youngsters are renowned for following the crowd and taking on board the opinions of others around them as fitting in is so important at that age. I think they should be allowed and expected to take responibility for their own decisions and actions, including any consequences.

Too damn loud - then they complain and cry when there is some comeback from that.

Maybe their youth and nativity is all too apparent by how immaturely they deal with criticism and different opinions and maybe until they can handle it they should keep their opinions to themselves. Just a thought.

Yes except those accusations have a meaning ... if you make a statement that can be described as racist then that is a direct response, it has meaning.

If I were to be asked what is a racist sentence I could give you one... I could not give you a 'left' sentence... as it makes no sense whatsoever...look,

'I think there should be better provisions for schools!'

Left would be socialist, anticapitalist, someone who sometimes defends the undefendable or fails to allow people the dignity of taking responsibility for their own actions. Left and right have many meanings often based on opinion and interpretation. Not difficult.

Being educated doesn't make you wise, it makes you informed. It's what you do with that information and how you interpret it that matters...and

Calling people "snowflakes" doesn't achieve anything, it's just as daft as when they call everyone racist/sexist/whatever whilst refusing to listen to opposing views. Most people grow out of being what you might call a "snowflake" when they get a job and general responsibilities, which is why I find it concerning to see 30/40+ year old SJWs...
