So I'm down in London at the moment, came down at the weekend and heading home tomorrow. Thought I might spot a celebrity while I'm here! But nothing... UNTIL TODAY! We had just come off the underground at Covent Gardens, and right there, large as life almost bumping into me... Was Mickey! Yes! Mickey Smith himself! Ultimate celebrity encounter confirmed.

Yes because women are only hired for diversity. Same as the non white actors. They just tick boxes, they don't have talent.

I doubt he'd do it just for diversity. I think women have a lot of talent when it comes to writing. Not to be bias... I know a lot of brilliant male writers too.

No I think that writer should be based on the script they write and not there gender which can be seen as being diverse.

I think it has to be the 12 or so best writer and the story they wrote who should be involved whether male or female.

Right.... but what about "There's a lot of female writers this series" suggests they haven't picked the best writers/story pitches?

Would you have automatically jumped on the gender if they'd said "We have 8 terrific male writers this year".

tbh having any number of female writers shouldn't be seen as extraordinary, it's not good or bad, it just is. If they gave the best story pitches or however it's decided, then great!
