I honestly feel quite bad for Melania, she is certainly not happy with Donald, but is pressured to stay with him due to the pressures of the presidency. Heck she even attends events with the Obamas...

...it’s such a contrast to as Niamh said, the Obamas...and also George and Barbara Bush who were devoted to each other in their relationship...for me he was a bizarre choice of president ...and they seem to have a ‘bizarre’ relationship..
 ...which doesn’t appear from the outside to have much connection between them....

I figured if there was any quality to their relationship, it was more of a companionship... it doesn't mean she doesn't get anything out of the marriage, and he may even get that out of it as well, having someone to share confidence... but obviously he gets an image boost having a younger woman hanging on his arm (and he looks better in the tabloids)... but I mean with every relationship he has had, it's been in the spotlight, especially with the myriad of affairs he's had... so it's not like she didn't know beforehand his intimate arrangement with the media. Granted, it was probably less negative then... but for all we know, their marriage is even a business arrangement.
I still find amusement though in how this marriage has played so far in the presidency... it's so anti-everything that's supposed to be presidential in terms of optics... and yet it's the most honest of American celebrity (especially politically motivated) relationship life by far... many of those marriages are a mutual business arrange imho... mutual likeability is only a basic requirement in making those obligatory photographed PDA sessions at least somewhat less "torturous"...

And maybe the white dress was meant as an Olivia Pope reference... after all, she was always like it'll be good optics.... the media always act like she and him are speaking in code, they are so bumbling about that... and well, there have been articles where people had supposedly heard from sources that she was secretly speaking into her ear all the time about "you should do this, it looks good", "think of how good this will look for you out in the papers...", etc... that she was overly concerned with his image as her role.
