You are close friends with a young couple who have only been married for just over a year.

She dotes on him and he on her. They seem so well-suited and she is ecstatic about them trying for their first baby.

One night you are in the car travelling home and are stuck in a queue of vehicles at a red stop light when you casually look towards the brightly-lit facade of a Nightclub and see your friend leaving the club with his arm around the shoulders of a striking young woman.

You watch horrified as they stop and start kissing very passionately before they continue to a car parked up in the Nightclub car park.

You watch them get into the car but then the traffic lights change and you have to drive on but you do a U-turn, trail their car to a motel, and watch them go inside.

Do you:

a) Tell his wife and risk breaking her heart but believe that it will save her a lot of pain later on in the marriage.

b) Have a word with him, tell him he's a right twot and if you ever find out he has done anything similar again you will tell his wife about this time.

c) Do nothing.

I would have a word with him...find out if there is any more to the story you don't know....if no satisfactory answer then I would tell him to tell her and if he doesn't I would......(hoping he does the right thing and tells her)

Definitely a) - I think most people would hate to be the last one to know. If he can do that he is not worth having - she can do better.

Similar happened to me. I saw one of my friends wife in a car with another man in a supermarket car park. The car was parked such that I had to pass it while I entered the supermarket so I had a long good look and confirmed it was definitely her. I recognised the number plate too

I told another friend who was closer to him than me and when he told our mutual friend.....he didn't believe him and stayed with her. She did it again about a year and half later an this time he believed us.

The sight of my friend in tears after the second affair is one I will never forget.

So the answer is I dont know which of these options but I will try to tell the wife but probably wouldn't tell her myself.

B....have been in a similar situation and my heart was with A...but when you realise the hurt and destruction B was our way of dealing with it and it was the right decision for all concerned.

My wife was actually in this situation a few years back! A single mutual friend of both my wife and the wife in question was on a dating site and found the husband in there... Told my wife like "OMG what do I do??", and they did some digging to make sure it was actually him (not a fake profile). The friend who found him decided to steer well clear of it... My wife (after weeks of deliberating) decided to tell her . Talk about awkward. Hahaha. They weren't really close friends or anything, more just through having young kids, but yeah... Cringe... Heh. She confronted her husband and they're still together so who knows what happened there. Other than still being on a couple of the same FB groups her and my wife aren't really friends any more, but that's as much to do with lives going in different directions as anything.

Personally? I doubt it was worth it, I think I'd just leave it well alone unless it was a VERY close friend. Maybe try to orchestrate a situation where they "see for themselves" rather than be the one to tell them .
