Default VirginMedia has ended the dispute with BBC World : Gold , Dave etc. are back

Just on BBCnewsHD

VirginMedia is refusing pay the BBC Worldwide, so much
saying they can not afford it.

From Today
DAVE and GOLD have now been removed
(on virginmedia only)
all the UK channels that are part of BBC Worldworld Group (albi , drama ,eden, W , good food, really , home)
are going off virginmedia
Until Nasty BBCWorldwide
stop overpricing their commercial channels.

This should have been on a Front page

https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...-in-rights-row

[“The problem is the BBC does not grant the UKTV digital rights with its
TV shows which leaves it somewhat stranded as a linear
dinosaur in an on-demand modern world,” said David Bouchier, Virgin Media’s chief digital entertainment officer.]
[From 10pm on Thursday, Virgin Media was expected to begin notifying customers
online about pulling the channels, and from Friday the UKTV channels would
carry a message saying: “this channel is being replaced from Sunday”.
Barring an eleventh-hour deal, Virgin Media said it would replace the
UKTV portfolio with a range of channels offering shows including
Suits, Designated Survivor, Britain’s Next Top Model, Deadliest Catch
and sports programming.]

BBC Worldwide Commercial has NOW
REMOVED virginmedia from there channel listings

UKTV boss Steve North and Virgin boss Dave Boucher
both live from the W1 BBC rooftop.

The Virginmedia boss told him off
saying why can Virgin not have the Freeview channels.

On that the Virgin boss was correct

8:12AM BBC W1 North Regent St. London Rooftop

The Cocky UK TV boss Steve North would not give way

This will have go to Parliament
as the BBC is the Parent company
and that UKTV Boss must allow VirginMedia to have Dave which is also on freeview.

Even Worse BBC's UK TV Gold gives Fawlty Towers to Netflix
but not VirginMedia. (the 2 bosses were live on BBCnewsHD just before 9:30AM in the studio)
this was BBCWorldwide Parent company of UKTV 10 channels
pulling them off Virgin , at the 11th hour.

The 2 bosses
on the the BBC media Show Radio 4
still no agreement.

I assume no one on TIBB cares about this loss of channels.

Thank You Adam.
another Weekend battle.

I would be very bad if ITV pulled channels for virginmedia
MP's /Ofcom would have to do something.................

Sky had a ITV battle years back
it got corrected in time.

Who has Virgin Media in this day and age anyway? It was **** 10 years ago and I can't imagine it's gotten any better.

We didn't have live TV at all for years, but just recently went back to Sky because a whole bundle (including TV license) worked out cheaper than what we were paying BT for just Fibre .

TBH I've now remembered why we got rid in the first place; downloading / streaming beats any live TV service hands down .

So mainly my setup is Netflix/Youtube + torrents & PLEX server. Though we do also now have SkyQ. To be fair it'll be good for when Big Brother is airing because "5-on-demand" is ****ing abysmal. Like almost unusable.

PLEX was the discovery of a lifetime really. Not only does it make watching downloads on the TV easy / convenient... but I can also stream to my phone at work . They blocked Netflix on the wireless there, but I can still access my PLEX server. Yussss TV instead of work. PLEX .

Yes Virgin say its too high.
UKTV boss
said he will not allow VirginMedia
the Free to Air Dave and Gold.

Saying because Virgin do not do a Free to Air deal
like Sky do.

VirginMedia is now Subsidiary of Liberty Global USA
no longer under R.Branson.

I mean not to state the obvious but... Any virgin TV user who still wants those channels, pretty much all TVs have built in freeview now, or if they want to record they could pick up a second hand freeview+ box for next to nothing...
