It's because you're a bad, bad man. Beautiful eyes though, so...

Why would someone with serious allergy issues, take a chance on eating a baguette with no ingredients listed... then get on a plane. Sounds ridiculous to me.

The title didn't specify that it was the pret a manger was the cause of her death. So in my head I thought of a scenario where a girl who is known for eating pret a manger dies and is immortalised as "girl who ate pret a manger in 2016".

Correction...she bought the Pret baguette in T5 departure lounge and suffered a cardiac arrest during her BA flight...sesame seeds were in the dough used in the baguette and not shown on the packaging.

I was just joking Armand, didn't think for a minute your wished death on anyone. And yeah, the title made me smile too...

While the title didn't make me laugh or smile because it's tragic ... I was a bit confused about how someone could die in 2018 because of something they ate in 2016.

Really it should maybe say "Inquest into death of girl, 15, after eating Pret a Manager baguette (2016)". It IS a sort of confusing title .

there is no actual reason to add the year into the title, then it all becomes very simple.

They were moaning on the news last night that the traces of sesame contained in the baguette was not included in the ingredients. If food is made on the premises, you don't have to list ingredients at all. I'm very surprised someone so allergic that traces of sesame could lead to death, that she would eat something prepared in a shop and take a chance. Terrible that she died, of course. I just don't understand why she and her father weren't more vigilant.

i have a food allergy, and without fail I always ask in restaurants or whatever if the food contains xxxx. People with an allergy always do, so I do wonder if they were given false information

usually this sort of information for allergies is mentioned on food products here in my country, in bold as well to make it better to read

these things don't really happen here, i feel sad for that young girl

I don't suppose the people on the tills have any idea...as far as they are concerned if it's not on the packaging..it's not in there.

It may not even have been supposed to be in there - it could just have found it's way in. This is why there are products that say "Made in a factory that contains nuts" and things like that - because while the product itself doesn't have nuts in the ingredients, they can't guarantee that traces of nuts / nut oil won't have gotten in during the process, and some people have such a severe allergy that even a small trace is a problem.

Honest opinion? I would say that eating from a sandwich chain that makes various types of sandwich is ALWAYS going to be very risky for someone with a seed allergy... whether they have warnings up or not, I would just always stay on the side of caution and not do it. TBH if I had a sesame seed allergy I'd just avoid all bread products unless I had baked it myself or something.

Doesn't make the story any less tragic, of course, she was just a young girl and it's possible that the full extent of her allergy wasn't known until this reaction.
