I'm not sure it's as simple as "she's a lesbian so this is offensive", to be honest, and I think she does have complicated feelings about Lewis. I mean I get where people are coming from - BUT - she has hinted at this on several occasions herself. She has also specifically mentioned that while for the mostpart she is exclusively sexually attracted to women... She has had feelings for males in the past and has had boyfriends. Going on to elaborate that she now considers herself to be gay due to being pretty much exclusively physically attracted to females.

Essentially, Brooke is homosexual but bi-romantic (this is from things SHE has said, not an assumption) and I think she does have "a crush on" Lewis... Just not one that involves actually wanting to have sex with him, because she's not into guys.

And I think she does find that confusing.
