nobody is fully sovereign these days,
any international treaty and law reduces sovereignty

so let's watch UK extracting itself from the EU and binding itself to some new treaties like free trade agreements etc

the fact that you can't exist fully sovereign is well illustrated by the apparent necessity of keeping many arrangements with the EU and others

The thread isn't off topic, it's debating immigration.

we in the EU aren't doing anything wrong, it is the UK who is never liked, never popular in the entire world, and this brexit makes UK more look like a bunch of fools, and i think USA won't help UK cause they have their own problems, but enough about that right now

back on topic, immigration well they need to go somewhere away from that chaos in their own countries tbh

I just don't understand why they're being taken to Dover instead of back to France?

Maybe the French will not take them back
though.

because they have to be processed before sending them back. If they didn't do so there would be no record of their illegal attempt to enter the UK

Why can't that processing be to just record how many people they drop off in Calais (or wherever)?

if you attempt to enter illegally then you get an instant ban on any legal attempts for a period of years. So they need their details. Also, if they try illegally again and get in, there is at least some record of them being there illegally with finger prints etc.

Read somewhere that this first safe country business is an EU thing, called the Dublin agreement. So I guess Britain will be out of that after brexit.
