Disagree with the tweet to an extent. I do speak the truth when I’m drunk unless I’m absolutely off my tits, then I just say any old ****e

People definitely tend to get more honest and open about things they'd probably not discuss as much sober, at least in my experience.

Very drunk people talk complete bollox, but slightly inebriated people do tend to have looser tongues

Both.
Drunk people talk crap but their comments/feelings etc are their true feelings. |

I had quite a bit to drink at a relatives house over Christmas and apparently I spent a good half an hour complimenting their cheese board and going over my journey into being a cheese lover, so I fully support the notion.

Never been one to hold back on the truth..drunk or sober, but nearly always diplomatically, especially when sober.

![]() I think if someone has an issue it with someone else it can come out when drunk as social inhibitions are lost so there is an element of truth to it, in the main people become boring and repetitive, anyone who has been the designated car driver on a night out will attest to this

"That person's truth" yes, "objective truth" obviously not. Yes drunk people can talk a load of absolute sh*te but it's sh*te that, somewhere deep down, they believe. Basically alcohol can't "put anything into your head" that wasn't there already. Someone who starts spouting racist / sexist / homophobic crap when drunk for example, believes the same things when they're sober. They just have the sense not to say them out loud until those inhibitions are lowered.
Basically always be wary of a "nasty drunk" and the idea that it's something about "the drink" that turns them nasty. All it does is let the demons out ![]() |
