Idk if that title makes sense but anyway...
Anyone know of any good sites for relatively cheap flights to the US? Or the best way of finding them? Ta x |

if you are willing to carry a suitcase that was not packed by yourself I think you can find some very competitive rates

I used Booking.com for my flights to CA/TX last summer and saved a few hundred on each ticket than booking directly from British Airways.

The average price for GLA/EDN to Cleveland is around £700-£800 but im looking for something more around the region of £600 I know someone who managed to get a return from london for under £600 last year, but that's proving impossible to find lol. |

Have you looked at splitting the flight, flying direct to JFK and then booking an onward internal flight to Ohio?

Do the camp not pay for this? That's outrageous!

They can do, but that means you get paid less. So last year bc it was my first year doing Camp America, they charged my camp for the costs of my flights, meaning I was paid less bc of it. But if you're a returner, you get the choice of arranging/paying for your own flights, meaning you pay less fees to CA and you get paid more from your camp bc they don't have to pay for your flight. So this year I will get double the amount I earned last summer!

But it also means you need to try and find relatively cheap flights

What they are basically doing then is giving you an advance on your earnings.
Good deals usually appear either about 3 months in advance or within a week or 2 of your travel date, though waiting till your departure can be a bit risky as the price can rocket |

I'm not leaving until the very end of May (30th/31st) so I still have plenty of time, but yeah, I think it's too risky to wait that long.

Your friend who got to America for £600, was s/he in CA too? Flights are much cheaper when it's not holiday season, so maybe they went then?

I went to Uni with an American guy who would fly to Ireland and then Ireland to the US, apparently significantly cheaper. Dunno if that's still the case these days, I'm old now.

Also depending where you're going it can apparently be cheaper to fly to New York and then get an internal flight to wherever it is you're headed. You can often get London to JFK for under £200 (one way).
