Such a sad sight ,one of my all time football heroes,I thought he had sorted his life out and this is terrible to see that he hasn't

He has been given so many chances, I have no sympathy for him or others that can’t get control of their lives.

I agree in some way but we went to see his live show last year and hes being used by greedy management ,it was so sad to watch ............. they even have him selling tack on e-bay now

He is an adult and responsible for his actions.

He would of got money from the live shows and sp not it on drink.

George Best was the same. Addiction is awful and I don't think we can understand unless we have suffered with the crippling pain of addiction.

Addiction also creates liars and thief’s that would mug an old lady to feed their addiction break into someone’s home and steal a family’s possessions only to sell them for their next fix.

They also put a strain on our police and health service.

People should be given the option face your addiction or be put to sleep.

Yes they can do all those things. Some do those things and aren't addicts.

Most addicts do face their addictions and many get sober and then relapse when things get too much. Addiction is an illness. Would you give recurring cancer sufferers that same option? Get treated and stay well or be put to sleep??

Well I have someone close dying of cancer at the moment they are in hospital and the family have been given the preparation for death pamphlet.

The old guy opposite was being kept alive but two days ago he was yelling that he had had enough so they withdrew oxygen and drugs gave home a large injection and he dyed a few hours later with his family at his side.


I have first hand experience of having an addict in my life, one who has to me to hell and back from the countless over doses to shoplifting to violence.

From ten days in icu in an induced coma with a 50/50 chance Given the best round the clock treatment anyone could ask for weeks on a ward getting stronger only to repay them by being in icu again and countless addmisions.

You can’t tell me anything new about addicts and addiction.

I'm not trying yo tell you anything new.

I lost my mum to cancer very quickly and also have very close experience with addiction. All I was saying is it is an illness. I agree the people affected listen to their addiction but some people (not directed at you) seem to think its just a case of not having another drink/hit etc when that just isnt the case. Unless treated properly just quitting can be as dangerous as over dosing and far more painful.

I feel terribly sad for anyone in the grip of addiction even though they stoop so low sometimes for the next fix.

I didn't know he was back on it until i read what Harry Redknapp said about shoving him into his car and taking him home when he came into someone Harry was having a meal drunk as a skunk ,I agree only Paul can save himself but surely the leaches who are rolling him out on stage night after night can see he needs help ?

The problem is people get help with their addiction over and above what a cancer patient will get, from personal experience whatching someone get help and support only for them to throw it back in the faces of the very people that tryed to help them.

Then comes the heart felt lies, how many chances do you give one person, if you are not careful you start to live in their world not your own.

...yeah I would say that Paul Gascogne isn’t there any more, only the addiction is there...very sad that something so destructive can control someone so completely in taking who they are......
