Default What is the best Classic movie?

This is the final poll before the Grand final.

In this poll we want to know the favourite of the 1930s.1940s and 1950s combined. I've chosen 5 films from each of these decades, however, if you want to choose something other than what's in the poll, then you need to state it.

You can vote for upto 3 movies.

I don't expect a big turn out in voting for this one, but I do expect some votes.

Citizen Kane then Rear Window were automatic choices, for me. Then it was between Casablanca, NBNW, All about Eve and 12 Angry men. Love all of these movies but Casablanca - its arty but never seems like it is. Not a big fan of romantic movies but Casablanca is much more than just a romance. Classic movie in every sense.,

8 votes, not bad! The target now has to be to get into double figures.

I'm a big Wilder fan and did consider a lot of his films, one's that got close where, Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, Witness for the Prosecution and Some Like It Hot. I also considered Lost Weekend. If I'd have done it in decades, all those films along with Stalag 17 would have been in. However, I chose 5 films from each of the 3 decades, which meant great films had to miss out. But I give the option to choose any film not in the poll.

It came down to a choice between Sunset Boulevard or All about Eve, both from 1950, both great. All about Eve actually kicked the butt of Sunset Boulevard in terms of winning the major awards at the time. But there's not much between the 2 films.

Lost Weekend is my favourite film of his; I'm big fan too. He's one of those directors who made so many great films but we dont really choose his as the best of the era.

I did a Classic Disney poll. It's somewhere in the movie Sub-forum section. That's the reason I left out Disney films.

Although I didn't put Fantasia in it.

I'd liken him to the Coen brothers, constantly making good solid films, regular 9/10 films.
